I've already posted this on Akai's forum, but have not received any response as of yet:
"So while I'm waiting to get a response from Akai about the time signature limitations of the Live, I'm trying to find workarounds and I'm encountering what appears to be a bug.
I'm starting from scratch with an idea that I was previously working on with my 2000XL. I have one sequence that is 3 bars. On the 2KXL, the first two bars are 7/8, the third bar is 8/8, which is really easy and quick to accomplish, try doing this with the Live, I dare you
(and the thing is, I can load this sequence I created on the 2KXL into the Live, and sure enough, there it is, proper timing and all, so clearly the Live is capable of handling these types of sequences, it's just lacking the functionality to achieve them with ease as was the case with the 2KXL... but I digress)
So I build up the same sequence on the Live, starting with 3 bars of 4/4. The third bar needs to be 3/4 (this will work but the emphasis/accents correspond with the 7/8-8/8 timing I described earlier, so if anything the metronome is now useless). I add a fourth bar set to 3/4, copy the events of the third bar to it, play it back and confirm that that step was successful.
This is where the apparent error takes place. When I delete the now unnecessary third bar, the fourth bar (3/4) that I created and copied events to suddenly becomes 4/4, leaving me right back where I started. I've checked all my steps and I can't find anything that I'm doing wrong.
Why doesn't the fourth bar remain 3/4 after I delete the third bar?"
Anyone care to chime in?
I've now tried setting the default time signature to 3/4, and I'm getting the same result: when I delete the third bar, the fourth bar becomes 4/4, when it was originally 3/4.
