Since the mpc x is twice as expensive, and i see no other real changes except screensize, and bit more ins/outs... while the mpc live has a build in battery lasting 5/6 hours, where the mpc x does not? both have the same memory size, so what are the real differences, justifying such a price difference???

X has way more buttons = way less menu-diving.
It also has the classic Locate buttons.
X also has CV outs for modular synths etc.

Yup. Would be nice to MIDI a control panel to access the Live like an X, but the Qlinks are MPC exclusive, so even if your controller has 16 knobs, it does nothing for Qlinks :|

not sure if more buttons more ins/outs cv stuff and the (cool intuitive tho) q-links beside a bit bigger screen and a bigger device justifies the price difference to be honest, (especially when the live has that mobility and battery) or is it just me?

Its a win-win for sure either way you go, depends on your needs. I'm just a sample-chop-mangle-make-something kind of guy, so thats why I went Live. I already have an MV in the studio, the Live replaced a lot of samplers that were catching dust so I sold them to enthusiastic people and funded the Live. Enough leftover to cop a Digitakt :D

i'd want a mpc X like i bought the MPC ren instead of the studio, but the price difference wasnt this big, and the mpc live basically has all the same features + battery for on the road... pure for looks and feels and workflow i'd like a mpc x, but for traveling purposes and portability while having basically all the same features, and the true stand-alone with the lithium battery, the mpc live for half the price is way more interesting
Mpc x 2499, and mpc live 1299

You can get cheaper prices, the homie Eyelac dropped the science and I acknowledged it over to musiciansfriend.com and they were so impressed with my conduct of speech that they sold the Live to me for $959.00. Danoc also absorbed the knowledge and broke bricks at musiciansfriend that he walked out with two Lives for $959 each. Drop game and they will lower the price but call, ring-ring.

The extras the X has cannot justify the huge price gap, for me. Also, I'd never, ever pay 2.200 euros for an Akai product. They are not a premium brand, their asking price for the X is ridiculous. The Live is much better value for money, imho.

Thanks man. Yeah no reason to ever pay full price. I got my Live for $959 too. Had an X on order for $1719 before i cancelled the order. If i decide to get an X someday, Ill push for the same price. Else i wont get one.

Folks just need to understand, you cant go about it like they owe you something. Sometimes I'll ask the salesperson what would help them. One time I guy told me he needed to make a few more sales, and he would make more commission from $50 worth of cables than he would from the Akai Z8 I was buying. Don't know if that was true, and didn't care. He dropped the price of the Z8 by $350, and I bought $50 worth of cables. He won, I won. Then I sold the cables anyway. Lol. Didn't need them at all.

Negotiation is your friend. Just need to find the "win" for both sides.

The X has a full treu dedicated TRANSPORT section and the Live doesn't. Will that bother me? No, some it will.

The X has dope pre amps for the 48+ phantom power the Live has passible amp for a mic and it sounds good. Cv/Gate is very important to a lot of producers today.
Bottom line with little effort to function the X is aimed at EDM producers, RnB, Hip-hop , Dance Hall, Trance , house, Chillout , Movie Scoring producers and the list goes on. With the Live you have to put extra effort to catch up to the X. The X can work indefinitely without a computer effortlessly. The Live can rock allow but not like the X. For the Live to nbe more powerful would take the expansion of a laptop or computer. With my Live and i7 laptop lm just as lethal as the X, except l don't have cv/gate and that gorgeous mic pre amp the X has and no touch screen. But hell l don't need a touch screen l need to get ish done!

The Live is a sporty price lesser than the X for those that don't need the extra. But everyone of us wouldn't mind having an X including me. :-D :smoker:
With the way coupons are flying around you wouldn't have to pay the whole $2,199 in the US.

Justify the price of the X? You need to understand the manufacturers logistics and msrking instead of looking at this in an aesthetic view.

MPC Holland ask yourself do you really need the X?
Its like this get what you need. The X is the flagship a more stay in one spot kida machine. It will be the brainn of your setup.
Hell they have MPC 3000s that cost more than the X USED and don't do or have half the things the X has! Its OLD TECHNOLOGY.
You only live once and what we need to understand not only was the hardware being developed it was Also THE SOFTWARE! So the price justifies itself. Plus on top of that you get the FREE AIR MUSIC TECHNOLOGY effects and instruments which cost an arm and an eyeball! They are not cheap! So its worth it. So manufacture wise the X as to be the price it is. But... You can get it cheaper.

So if donone tells me its not worth the price oh yes it is. You can work faster and be in the morfern age. I could not imagine recording through a dam interface when l don't have and the recording has absolutely no floor noise!

  Exactly! Akai got some f*** up business practices but dam l could never say that after how their 2000XL held me down since 2001-2012! And would still have it if l wouldn't have sold it.

Some peeps be talking and don't have either machine lol l didn't have a preorder and still got it lol

My Live is working at Premium stature! Its A 10 times step up from my 2000XL and lm killing it with this this thing. Sure it could use some other stuff but WTF do l need to be talking for when its working and l paid $959 dollars for it.
Rah Da N.O.C.<------keeps my mouth shut and keep it pushing.

Roland?
Native intruments?
Elektron?

:WTF: lol omg lol you are killing me lol

Roland ain't got a machine since the MV0880 that could f*** wuth the X or Live.

NI? They don't have a stand alone lol

Elecktron l must say with the AR MKII is trying. But its $1,499 dont have a touch screen and don't do what the X or Live can do! I don't see no one saying its over priced!

Premium is subjective here.
