I'M not talking about the effects per Ren/Studio. Akai has revamped their effects to the better from the time l had the MPC 2000XL and that EB effects that you had to purchase separately.

Ok good news to know about the Air stuff. But let someone who doesn't have the the Live or X want Air stuff they will pay hefty for it.
This Akai's first standalone in a while. The CPU bump up you're talking about l understand but l have to look at it from their stand point. Niw if they make a new standalone l would look at at new CPU bump up. It cant be 3 years old.

Akai had to revamp their internal effects also plus pay a portion of their moner to Air Music Technology for all the FREE effects and instruments!

Effects have not been revamped for the Live/X, they are the same as those used in the MPC Software previously in the Ren/Studio etc. No money would be paid to Air Music as it's owned by inMusic just like Akai is. This is why they can give this stuff away. Not knocking it though, it's all great stuff.

IMO the Live is clearly the better value for money - same software, same free goodies, battery power, half the price. The X is there if you need those extra hardware features, but I do think it's really odd that they didn't offer even a slight upgrade on the CPU and memory for the X. If you were buying a 15" Macbook Pro at twice the cost of the 13" model you'd expect to get at least a small CPU bump along with the hardware improvements.

With more CPU and more memory they would just advertise it as being able to run more audio tracks and more warping etc. No new features required, just giving the flagship owners more breathing space.

No problem bro. If the X is to expensive then the Live would be good.

I was told by my boy who is a Ren user the 2.0 will be available but Ren users have to pay for it.

Hey sometimes l rock the 2.0 software without the Live lol l be making up melodies and what not cause the midi handling is way better than Reason and S1V3!

Whatever your decision is enjoy your mschine and makebgood music.

and i had the renaissance basically since day 1 (still kinda mad we arent getting 2.0 on our mpc but okay) i wanted to buy the mpc x from day 1 too, but its too expensive so imma rock my mpc ren just for another year and then try to get it...but yeah the mpc x is a beast, im still not sure about double the price worth, but in a ideal world i'll be able to buy both, thanks for that reply though it was truelly informative

Thats also what i meant, for that price gap u'd expect a difference in cpu and memory.... still the mpc x is gorgeous, but i also think the mpc live is the best as far as value for money goes...its for sure the one im going to be focussing on to purchase

I agree. More audio tracks for either machine would of been a boss move! Plus be able to turn them into mono tracks. That would been just been to dam sweet!!!

Let me ask you Tutor who on the market today has a standalone machine that has more than 8 stereo tracks?

A Tascam DP32 :-D

Seriously, 8 stereo tracks is huge, audio tracks! But I wish they made an option to switch to 16 mono tracks. Just having 8 stereo tracks is so **** hipster.

Hence the 32 behind the DP :WTF: LOL Man that's not a standalone machine, that's a dam digital mixer LOL No fair! LOL lmao

Well A
8 audio stereo tracks can get the idea of a vocal down, you would do your entire lead on track 1, chorus on track 2 and 3, Adlibs on track 4, 5 and 6 bridge and 7 and 8 whatever. But you can't do to man stacks and people do a lot of stacking in vocals, so 8 audio tracks aren't enough when you want to do some real crazy ish with the vocals.

When I looked at the X and what it had and capable I thought it was going to run 2,699 to be honest. So when they said 2,199 was in shock.

What is your honest cost you thought the X would be?

Like it was said earlier in the thread. There are MPC 3000's and custom MPC2500's that cost more than the MPC X. I came from the MPC 2000XL then MPC Renaissance, never liked the MPC Touch. The MPC LIVE looks better to me because of thickness. I haven't had one issue in standalone with my MPC X I received last month. I was thinking CPU would be an issue, but it loads everything very fast and handles my SSD and sd card perfect. I price matched PSSL in January and Sweetwater accepted it and threw in another discount. My MPC X came to $1750. To me it's well worth the price, but do some negotiating and never pay full price. But to each it's own. These are all respectful opinions...... :smoker:

The one thing i wonder is how long these new mpcs are gonna last as the old mpcs could honestly last a very very long time. I would like to hope the build quality is close to the same.

Yep, I showed that there are used machines that cost way more than the X and the X has better technology etc.
Yo I think if I can get the X for 1,750 I might get one. :smoker: Then if dudes think the X ain't worth 1,750 they are buggin!

They will last as good as the person that takes care of it who owns one.
My MPC 2000xl was like a take, better build than my Live. Gotta be truful.

I was expecting around $1999.99 and street prices to be $1799.00 to be honest. Live is just right, should be $999.00 by now.

MPC-X possibly has a better sound card --we won't know for sure until service manuals are out
