SDXC vs SDD, what's best? Less battery usage, speed, etc

Hi,
Is a memory card a good choice to keep our projects? How does it compare with installing an SSD.
I'm looking for less battery usage, durability, data access speed, etc.

Looks like the memory card is a bit more expensive, but that's the only disadvantage I'm finding so far.

Seems like any samples need to be first loaded into the ram memory, that is 2GB ram and probably less than half, after the operating system etc loads. Most sd cards or ssd should be fine to go, since the mpc live does not stream directly from the optional expansion drives.

in the beginning i thought it will be good to have an ssd, but:

A ssd is inside of the machine, so i have to have a usb-connection with the computer to access the datas, means: the mpc has to be started. An sd-card can be used with a cardreader and it´s very ease to unplug the card an put it into the reader, even if the mpc is turned off.

I bought a SanDisk Ultra SDXC 128GB (http://amzn.to/2whiv7K) and have no problems with it. The card was formatted as exFat and the mpc accepted it directly.

I don´t know how much power a ssd takes, but i think especially in the battery mode, the card will take less. The speed from the card is ok, i have no problems with waiting times while loading etc.

There's discussion on this already on this forum. happy to lend my experience and opinions in this thread.

An SSD is convenient. You already have internal storage with the supplied memory inside the unit as well.
Right now the unites dont stream from SD card,. All the units will do is load the data from/to the card into its resident memory, so you dont need to worry about read/write speeds. Even if there was disk/card streaming on the units, many reputable card brands (sandisk, Lexmark as example) will work just fine. Audio is not as intensive as video.

SSD installed will not make a major dent in your power consumption. Don't worry about that. If you had a spinning mechanic disk than you would see some power consumption and additional heat.

The live/x is a computer/laptop at its core, so whatever rules you have learned regarding using SSDs in laptops can loosely apply here.

The units are sata III so dont worry about getting any other speed SSD.

Ive a samsung evo in both the Live and X. I live in a PC world so its formatted NTFS with no issues. If you are a MAC user, use hfs+.

I use a Sandisk usb ultrafit same price / gig as a ssd and fits virtually flush to the live, so no chance of knocking it.

Apparently Sd Cards are a good choice, since there's no streaming from sd or ssd, as mentioned previously.

I use a Sandisk 16GB SD card. No problems here. It'll take 6 to 7 years before I fill that up

if i need to swap samples quickly betwixt the LIVE and X I just use a sandisk SD card too!
