Your studio setup with the X/LIve

I am getting my X tomorrow and I have been thinking about how to integrate my other hardware with it. How does your setup look like? How do you route stuff around?

I have been using an Audiofire PRE8 audio interface, but it only works if I use a computer, so I´m currently looking at the Soundcraft Signature MTK 12/22 for maximum flexibility.

Got my Live, Digitakt, turntables and synths going to a Yamaha MG 10/2 mixer, it's output is going in my Audient ID14 interface. The other output is going into my Live so I can record anything I want.

I'm pretty happy with this setup for now, but I'll need a bigger mixer at some point.

I have all my audio running trough my Mackie Onyx 1640i.. One subchannel out from the Mackie goes to the input of the X so I can sample everything that comes in on the mixer..

I have a few synths which are connected by MIDI.. in and outs go directly in the X..

The Mackie is connected to my mac using FireWire.. so the sounds of the mac are routed to channel 1-2 on the Mackie.. and the mac can recognize the mixer as input.. before I used Garageband to compile al the tracks from an MPC 5000 and mix it down and make a MP3 out of it.. with the X that is not the case anymore.

I now will do everything within the X.. I don't like to work with a computer I like hardware buttons

I have the LIVE that travels with me everyday. It has an akai wireless 25 key keyboard, and Arturia Audiofuse interface, iPad pro2, Roland SE-02, Power generator, AKG N90Q headphones, and associated wiring, all in a UDG producer bag. So im always able to produce when the creation hits.

In the kitchen, i have a X as the center. Its analog outputs are run through a 48 input desk. Ive got some outboard efx gear, an s950 and DAT machine. Rounded out by two SL1200's, one of which is circa 1987.

The X controls a Roland Jupiter 80, DSI REV2 16 voice, and a DSI OB-6 all through MIDI.

The X also send CV data to the REV2 and SE-02 (triggers the gate sequencer on the REV 2 and plays tunes to the SE-02).

This all gets recorded to a Fostex D2424 LV 56 track SSD recorder.

Air conditioned (74 degrees ) with a relative humidity no greater than 45%.

No computers were harmed in this setup (or used). All hardware. All the time. I have the power bill to prove it.

I'm old school. Ive been making music since some of you cats were born. I use to record music to VHS HIFI machines because they used FM audio and helical scan recording (latter of which is the basis of DAT)....

You will LOVEEEE it! Its really a powerful synth. Very high build quality over past boutiques. This is my only mono synth.

When i found out the X did CV , i was thinking of getting the Mother-32 but then I saw this announced and my mind was set.

Studio Electronics have a long standing good reputation, and this didn't disappoint.

I was going to get me a Sub 37 but I got so much shit these past few months so it was out of my budget, then the SE-02 was announced and saved the day for me lol, similar sound for 1/3rd of the price of the 37! Also the small form factor is ideal for me because I'm out of space.
