3 pages in and no one has brought up the technical flaws behind the basis of both videos.

I have not done so yet because I'm still laughing over sequoia pm'ing me his # because he was offended I said an over priced eBay auctioneer should eat a dick.

@Smackdee it's strange how amped up you are about your internet forum valor. Is danoc talking about you going to at all cause you to hide your face in public when ordering your usual morning Starbucks Venti?

That part, those vids are totally bogus and proves no point!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely get what your saying about being amped and no it want affect me in anyway but sometimes you gotta say something or people will just feel they can do anything to you, might be an ego thing and I had already let it slide once when he brought my name up.. Sometimes you have to let things go and sometimes you have to hold people accountable for their actions!

@Smackdee I usually handle internet beef by dropping 2 grand on a last minute flight to meet up with the person, challenge them to an arm wrestling match and then get wings after.

With relation to the video, I see that it serves Danoc's point of not "needing an interface" (disregarding that his X is in fact an interface in some capacity) while not taking into account the technical reasoning behind why someone would suggest getting a higher end interface like an RME joint to get around a good portion of latency issues. If his video is in fact a response to that (which it seems to be to me), it just shows that Danoc didn't really understand what the actual argument was about.

He just equated latency issues to not being able to get his hits on the grid - Which would hold true in latency issues however the way he went around to "prove" it was completely off as the MPC X software as well as Reason do not even need an ASIO based driver to lock to the grid (nor could they be classified as a 'DAW' in my opinion). With both, You could have your buffer at something extra retarded like 2048 44.1khz and it would still be fine as it isn't cpu intensive to use either pieces of software. That's why people with no external interface on a 10 year old computer can utilize both and be good with hitting on the grid. It's not like people back in 2000 needed an interface to make beats on Fruity Loops, Acid as the engines required for handling samples was primitive in comparison to how Cubase did at the time. Ask those same people to use a grip of VST plugins and large Kontakt libaries (which MPC Ren, Live, X people are not, and Reason can't even utilize VST as a whole) and it will be an entirely different story, requiring to you need a mid to higher end interface as well as a decent cpu to work at lower buffers. Or you could spend all day rendering each one of your stems to wav to try to handle things, but that can only go so far.

If anyone else here or on gs can find a flaw with my rationalization or something that needs to be corrected here, please by all means do so.

It should also be said - I do not even have beef with Danoc or anyone else for that matter but I'm just being honest here.

Not sure I understand what the issue is in the first place or what the vids were about. I was just pointing out, you're whining over the internet and it don't matter where you're from.
Is the issue on gs about the software timing being off or tracking out to the computer being off? I mean you could use any interface to track out a mpc on even the live itself. I know there were issues about the internal clock but that seemed to dead end after I did what the guy asked. I'm not one for any technical details but I was interested in the issue. Not really sure what's going on besides trash talking, and personally haven't seen any reason for anyone to trash talk danoc. I got my popcorn though. Lol

@Cockdiesel I asked Danoc if it was in response to the clock issue being talked about in the other thread and he said it wasn't. Plus if you read what he said in the clock thread, he kept just saying "My X works fine" but didn't really seem to understand what the topic was about in the first place - Even after I tried to explain it to him. :/

The thing about danoc is he really is a dumb guy lol.

He doesnt understand that the mpc live is his interface so saying "I told you I dont need an interface" while he is using the mpc live AS HIS INTERFACE.. Its actually quite comical now that I think about it lol

I interpret what he means by "interface" is what others would refer to as a "sound card" which seems to have prompted him to make both videos. Now, if he say chose to load up a big project in an actual "real" DAW with several VST plugins and VSTi's and some how proved that everything worked the same with the on board sound card as a PCI/E or decent external interface, that would have been an impressive feat as well as a more justifiable argument to have made in my opinion.

I mostly agree with what you said and appreciate your honest point of view... I'll give you/y'all a brief run down of how this all started, at least 5-6 months ago dude was complaining of how his drums are always off the grid, someone asked him what kinda interface was he using his exact reply was" I don't have one, I'm in the box" so people me included said get an interface it will help with those problems, which is true, running a PC with asio using Omnisphere and other plugs, what do you expect! Actually was just trying to help the dude but starboy flipped out saying I don't need no interface!!!!! And that's true you don't need an interface but don't complain when you run into these issues..... And that brings us to the vids he posted that's very confusing to say the least, vid is called you don't need an interface yet he's using the MPC as an interface and programs a couple samples with the MPC hard quantizing to 16th notes, talking bout you see how all my drums are on the grid that's what the MPC does well and has nothing to do with an interface... News Flash most daw's have input quantize too!!!!

I watched this argument go down on gearslutz. Damn shame. You pretty much hit the nail on the head though. And is also something I do not understand one bit. As Danoc is 100% in the box and boasts on his Vst usage and I assume that's all he uses because of his past comments about it and being 100% in the box,. He certainly would not only benefit from the actual issues you pointed out but also from the D/A conversion when playing back the mix. Also in recording anyone if the opportunity arises with née conversion.. Unfortunately he seems to get defensive about it. Like hey Danoc it's all good man. Just trying to help you out but already see this going the way of gearslutz.. You keep talking about tape. Your talking to someone who actually has and still uses an Otari Mx 7800 1" 8 track to record. I know all about it. Also , try taking them drums off the grid . Just a lil bit. No one wants to see a beat go down with training wheels. ... that was just a joke, hopefully you don't threaten me on-the-line. But seriously, no drummer plays quantized. Trust in your human groove people.
