How do mpd218 pads compare to Live's pads?

I LOVE the pads on the Live. So far I find them more playable than even my quneo.

Sometimes I just need a midi controller and don't need to bust out the Live, though. The pads on the newer mpds (the ones with numbers that start in the 200s: 218, 226) look like the Live's with the backlit pads and everything.

Are they they same pads?

(sidenote: before you chime in with whatever answer, I should say that I know that the regular mpds are great, I know about putting things under drum pads, getting fat pads from mpc stuff and all that. This is a specific question: are the 218 pads the same as the live's pads, or not? Not trying to be salty. Just trying to save your precious time haha)

Basically they are the same pads they look and feel the same but the MPC Live pads seem more sturdy and feel good. 218 pads are the introduction to the Live and X.
MPC Studio Black pads are the same. LPD8 pads are not. But they are nice to my surprise and l like them. I have one and will keep it.

I already have a Live. I just don't want to use it as a controller all the time because it's big and heavy and expensive.

You seem to say two different things: the 218 pads are the same, and the 218 pads are less sturdy than the Live.

Do you mean that the rubber is the same thickness and has the same response, but the chassis feels heavier on the Live?

I might just have to bring my laptop to Guitar Center and plug one in to see if it outputs midi with feather-light sensitivity and expression like the Live seems to do...

They look the same just the live pads is firmer . go see for yourself.

Live is big? Its not that big.
