Thinking of trading the X for a Live

The only real solution here is to get both.

I don't understand bro.. How small is your room if you can't fit an X in there.. I would never in my lifetime trade in a X for a Live.
It's not that I don't like the Live, it's has it's own benefits but seriously bro..

I could see if you aren't using all its functions, but if you are find the room would be my suggestion.

Well I got my hands on a Live for a few days and although the size was a plus I'll be keeping the X. Thanks for all the advice.

Like the 8 out, more specifically the cv, qlinks , other dedicated buttons. If you aren't going to use them besides wanting a bigger screen there would be no reason to shell out that much when a live would be "more" than you need.

Don't know if this is a legit question, because the same goes for the Live.

I had the Touch but I didn't use all the functions on that either.. The buttons I really needed
where missing and the Renaissance did have them.

The X is like a upgraded Renaissance in that aspect combined with a MPC Touch which can do standalone..

I've always used a 4000, 5000 or 2500 so the dedicated buttons definitely are something I'm use to. Besides that the inputs were a factor. I don't have a mixer hooked up anymore so I run some EMU units through the dedicated input which the live had 1 stereo set and a RCA set. I ALSO wasn't expecting it to lay so flat on the desk. I enjoy a tilt screen more then I expected.
Something else I noticed and I'm not sure why maybe it was the unit but the Live was a little glitchy. Sometimes the drum loops was drop out a sound in the loop. Very weird, also when I was editing and would erase one note the rest of the notes would vanish. They would still play but they would disappear. Maybe it was me but with the X I never had any weird issues like that.
Anyway the X was more for me and I'm keeping it.

Are the qlink knobs of the same quality on the X and the Live? They look similar.

it's pretty clear to me when it comes to the quality of the buttons the X is the flagship model. I'm pretty sure they are the same Qlink knobs but the full Play Rec section was missed by me. it was the first MPC I ever used without a rewind button.

You can skip back and forth within the track with the arrow keys bub.
