midi program: how to set note per pad?

hi - MPC newbee here. how can I set the note each pad should send in a midi program? so far I get they're just chromatic increments .. no way to custom tailor per pad? (or restrict to scales etc)

so I found out that "pad perf" can be used to play in specific scales - but how could I do my own custom scale and map midi note per pad? thanks

If you read the manual you can find it under pad performance mode.

I have the same problem here. In pad performance mode there is no way to do this...??
