Grid Mode - Note Copy / Paste?

The MPC X is my first MPC, I been messin with music since 2000 on the RS7000 to the MV-8000 to Reason V3 to V9..
I always said I wish the MV had a touch screen it would make things so much better, so after I seen the Mighty X I knew this was something I wanted to own and learn.

I been spending a few hours a night after work just browsing the MPC X menus trying to figure out even some basic shit out, First question I have is can you lasso 2 bars of notes copy them and paste em to make 4 bars in the standalone Grid?

I'm sure you can probably do this on the 2.0 software but can you copy and paste notes on the grid screen in Standalone mode?

You can do it in sequence menu:
First way - double length (if you had 2 bar seq, it makes 4 bar, 4 bar - 8 bar etc)
Second way: copy sequence. In submenu it asks you from which track to another etc

Sadly, but there is no copy and paste in grid edit at the moment. A lot of people have already complained about it so let's hope Akai will implement this feature soon.

Looks like note copy and paste in grid mode was added in the recent 2.0.5 update.

One poster in another forum said the "Grid Edit Copy Events" seems to paste notes only at the end of the selection and not at any point in the grid, so it is like what is called "duplicate" in a DAW).
Are there no options to paste the copied events anywhere one chooses in the time line? I hope so cause this feature would be pretty limiting if that's it. :(

To those of you who have had a chance to test it, does it work as expected? :hmmm:

It might be a good start. I'm glad that they've listened to our feedback because without all the complaining it wouldn't be here today. I haven't tested it my self but for time being I would copy the notes and use the selection tool to select the copied notes and nudge them to the desired position on the grid. Not the ideal solution but it's a start. :-D

Select (any) notes, go to seq edit and copy events, and on bottom right, switch from "All" to "Select", which allows you to copy any selected notes anywhere. This is pretty handy, TBH.
Haven't made any music with this yet, but tested this super quick today (it'd be so easy to miss this…I was bummed with the "duplication copying" at first myself).

The paste function pastes the start of your first copied note at the current play head position. To select your paste location adjust the play head to your desired position then paste.
