since you dont believe us then ask akai directly what they mean about "standalone".

its been answered-- in this context the live and X can record, sample, mix down (resample) and build a song all internally without a computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats all this means!

the MPc X ADDS CV GATE which the LIVE does not have! THIS is WHY the bloke was featured because he is a master at modular!!!!!

the mpc X does not NEED MODULAR in order to make music!

Richard Devine (apparently) sampled his gear into the MPC X, so it's irrelevant whether it's a CD, record or a modular rig. It's standalone so deal with it. :mrgreen:

It's a pretty safe bet that Akai are trying to market the X (and this vid) to modular users as this is the first MPC that truly caters to them.

A turn table is a piece of gear dude. Just like a synth has sounfs you can record into the 2000XL and place it on a pad.

YOU SPECIFIED your definition but Akai SPECIFIED THEIRS. They specifically said on their site as "not tethered to a computer ". This has always been Akais mojo its not something they just made up. From the MPC 60 all the way till now.

Back in the day dudes would have the MPC would make up their drums on the MPC and be midied up to keyboards and synth modules and make a track then transfer it over to the computer.

I on the other hand didn't do midi l would do an entire song on the MPC 2000XL put it in song mode then transfer it over to Adat which was the smoothest transition . Dudes thought l was buggin cause l didn't use midi lime them. End result the music was done. I got my first check that way.
Then l tried with Protools and thats when my troubles started.

Now heres the big question.

Are you today in standalone in YOUR definition of it where you have nothing but a turn table connected?

It has nothing in it, you HAVE to sample. Cd or not you HAVE to bring samples into it. Same with any gear that samples. Sampling is fine. Standalone with no other gear I specificied. Gear I said, gear. It was gear. :lol:

Hell the only computer he was connected to is the X lol If dudes wanna get technical.

Everyone knows I don’t have turntables. Not worried about Akai’s dfinition of standalone.
Standealone means just that, standing alone, I don’t know what else your trying to debate here.

How are you not knowing what lm trying , been saying the whole time?
Standalone by Akai's def is without a computer. They make the machine and what's considered standalone. How clear can l be? .
If you're meaning standalone is by it's self then you can't even sample into the MPC period! STANDALONE MEANS JUST THAT, STANDING ALONE! No turn tables nothing!
