The more I wait for the MPC X to arrive(it's on backorder), the more I think I should cancel my order and wait til next year. I have a funny feeling the Akai will have modified and done something more to the MPC X for next year. What's your opinion?

Errr....no....i do not expect that they will come with another hardware itteration as the X is already released with a delay regarding some re-designing to it.

I have several items on my wishlist for the MPC X and 2.0...

but there is one that by far heavier than any other... Plugin Delay Compensation.

The fact that I can't use my favorite plugins to shape my sounds without losing or having to take more time to do work arounds means that for all the cool things this thing can do.... may STILL have to export and mix in Pro Tools. I just don't understand why we need two DAWS in 2017 for making, mixing a BEAT. A song... ok... sure... go to Pro Tools... it specializes in that.
But I should be able to finish a beat using UAD plugins, Fab Filter, etc... and not have to deal with timing issues.

I remember when the Ren was coming out, I thought it was the end of my beat machine and the capabilities of Pro Tools being two completely different worlds. I thought I could finally make and mix a beat to the complete end in ONE THING.

Still waiting on that. Meanwhile I got homies making whole albums in Ableton.

PDC is on its deathbed. Fanu asked multiple times and it looks like it’s not on the roadmap.

My best guess is it'll never come. At least not for 2.x (I'll eat my shorts if that does happen).

They've had ample time and many chances to let assure us, even loosely, it's being worked on, but nah.
Only a few weeks ago I was still considering getting the X and had the money ready, but PDC has been a worrying issue, so I was talking to Pete, Simon, and Geoff on Twitter.
While they replied to some things, they ignored PDC completely.
Or, well, Pete's replies have been along the lines of "I cannot give you any dates re: PDC" or "We will let you know once PDC functionality has been added" – while my actual question has been "Are you working on it?" which never gets a reply.
Always beating heavily around the bush.

The software has seen an overhaul (which is probably a lie, like the vintage modes were) in the 5+ years it's been out, while there's been no word on PDC.
I don't know the first thing about coding, but I'd make a wild guess and say it's probably not easy to implement in existing software…something tells me you'd have to go way back in the code.

I'd say don't expect it to happen. It is a massive shame you still need two DAWs to make it sound like you want.
How many DAWs are there with no PDC anyways?

Damn. :Sigh: :(

It's a shame Ndeed. Having the MPC X is like being a grown man and getting the go kart you always wanted as a child. It's fun, you can do cool stuff with it, but now it's time for a car... to do grown man things.

My name is IMAKEMADBEATS and there's one thing keeps a lot of my rough ideas from becoming full layed out ideas... and it's having to go from one DAW to another. That's like the one step in creation process that has the power to just stop an idea from becoming fully developed. Whether its because of PDC, Sidechaining, upper level audio editing, etc... that slow down from CREATIVE to "move and export files, arrange them, name them, etc" is a workflow killer.

I love having a standalone MPC again, especially because I perform a lot now with it. The touch screen is greatness as well... but it all feels like shiny bells and whistles if I still gotta go to Pro Tools before I can do the grown man work.

If no PDC gets implemented in the span of the MPC X's life, this will most likely be where Akai and I finally part ways. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just holding on to an old way of doing things by continuing down this road... and if I think Im tricked myself into thinking I wasn't with the glorious hardware advancements of the X.

In the next room over is my homey and he just does absolutely everything right in ableton. He without a doubt things this software is nostalgia based for someone not interested in adapting lol.

If you're just chopping samples and doing really basic stuff... the kind of stuff you were doing on your MPC 2000xl... it's really fun then.

Are you planning on mixing in Akai's software or the X?

I can't if I wanted to bro. No plugin delay compensation means I cant even use Fabfilter MB without having time issues. No Brainworx EQ... yeah right.
I don't think I'd ever mix a song in it.... I know that's not the central Identity of an MPC. But I should be able to do an indepth mix of just a beat.
