Possible to record "pressing mute" ?

Hey, I'm about to buy the MPC Live. I've been using Maschine Mikro for the last year or so but my MPC curiosity has gotten the better of me. Theres a few things I'm wondering about but the first is...

If I program my drum track, can I record mute parts out of it while playing it back and hitting mute? ...hope that makes sense. I can't do that on maschine. I know I can go through and delet parts but thats no fun.

Yes you can with Automation recording...

You actually just need to go to the mute screen and hit record and then perform your mutes. You also have mute groups where you can for example mute 2 or more tracks at the same time. If you need to edit the mute performance then go to list edit.

You also have the option to mute pads (pad mute), if you're the type that likes to put their whole drum pattern on one track then using pad mute works very good in these cases.
