Am I the only one that feels totally let down by my MPC X?

I agree with you and Zang! I freakin love my MPC Live, and it does more than what I expected and it hasn't given me a problem. The only problem I had was my fault and I sat down used my common sense and got that fixed and helped others.

Dudes talking about rushed, ok, but people were rushing the hell outta Akai after that FCC so called leaked. Dudes were bugging out and crying not to long ago about, "When is it being dropped, when is it going to be in stores, yada yada". I researched it to the T! and I got what I wanted. Work flow is faster and better and tighter! Now I don't even care about how fast updates come or this other, it doesn't have all these functions, like wtf. Where is the perfect standalone machine out here? People need to study it first if its not for you then don't buy it. If it helps you buy it.

I am good with my Live.

The internet is a vast area of knowledge and information. You can try before you buy in most places around the world, and watch reviews. There’s even grace periods where you can return gear if you don’t like it.

And then everyone needs to justify why they kept their gear or why they sold it, returned it, etc. meanwhile hundreds of people in reality are loving this gear.

Software/vst/computer cats usually dont get the mpc workflow and are usually the majority of wheel squealers on these forums.

the GUI should be scalable for ppl who have topgun sight, or are 60+, or just want to scale
in (global) preferences, confirmation screens (do it?) should be on/off choosable
and yes, fix the damn copy/pâste thing

One can complain as much as he wants to for a certain product and it's lack of features/unfinished state etc BEFORE buying it. After you bought it, it's your own fault for not doing enough research beforehand when there's so much info out there. Learn to value your money.

I agree starman. Akai takes a lot of heat, a lot more than most it seems.

It's a sampler with daw LIKE features and never promised being a complete daw...
I believe the price would be a lot higher if that was the intention.

It's always a trade off between ease of use and complexity.

No piece of HW can ever compete w software for range of options, and most SW falls flat in the user-immediacy dept.

Bottom line is Korg have been using the same sequencer since the M1, more or less. For making beats and drum programming, the MPC sequencer was better than it in the 90's and it's better now, imo.

If you've got an X and a Kronos you have so much more power than any 90s producer short of Dr Dre could even hope to have.

Its an MPC with a touch screen and similarities to a DAW. I grew up using an MPC, and started using logic and Ableton simultaneously, so I love the new MPCs (I have both and all the old ones). But then again thats what I learned on, so I'm used to that work flow. I hate Elektrons workflow, but love their machines and all of the functionality that they offer.

Don't get me wrong, there are some problems and major updates that seems like they can easily add that would make the new MPCs even better. Also bugs, etc.... but if you don't like the work flow, maybe the MPC isn't for you.....thats part of what really makes an MPC an MPC.

Send it back go buy the mk3 or what ever its called and love there software that updates every6 months with fixes that dont fix.. akai is doing what it said it will do mix it with a daw and other plugins what do you have to complain about.. once the software is update to match the hardware less complaints and more beat making i hope.. the mpcs are dope!

Speaking from experience, you may want to consider returning it before you can't. Why? Because you've already poisoned it in your mind. I doubt it will ever live up to your expectations, so you most likely won't be happy with it in the long run. I know you "want" an MPC, but I'm not sure this one is going to do it for you.

Me? I wanted to use my Live as a backing machine for my swamp punk guitar playing and - for me - it fills the bill perfectly. It's a drum machine that does bass lines and squiggly bits and I can change those things up as I want to. But I have no expectations beyond that. If I want more than that, I'll either figure out how to make it do what it can or I'll get something else to go along with it. So far I don't need (or really want) anything else.

You should have just bought the Live. Does the same **** thing but is portable and for half the price.
The Live is dope and I've been very productive on it. Haven't even downloaded the new update because I'm good as is.

The Live is awesome. X for me is if you a die-hard MPC fan and need the extra outs and CVs. Like J.O. said, it does the same **** thing for half the **** price and with a **** battery in it. Makes you say "**** it, I'm getting a Live!"

The Live is saving me so much time programming drums. That sequencer is the best. Don't let me go into controller mode where l can add swing. I remember vividly saying "I'M NOT MESSING WITH THAT SOFTWARE! " Now look l am loving it. I was a fool to say that because l was to budy looking at the standalone version. When l saw what it was coming with my whole attitude switched andbl am loving it. Its the ultimate power.

I can't complain about sh**! I got mines for $959 and no problems.

We have the best instructions for dirt cheap from Tutor with his MPC Bible and constant updates on that. I know 90 % of this machine and 70% l ain't going to use.

Akai is doing their best so lma let them do their thing.

One dosen't need controller mode for swing!!!!!

I prefer being in controller mode when doing swing especially when using the Air instruments so l can hear how it sounds on the spot.
