MPC Live as sound card and midi controller

Hi folks

I've just bought the MPC Live and I'm completely frustrated. I want to use it as a sound card when connected to my computer, but it only works as a sound card when it's in controller mode with MPC software active. Can I use it as a sound card, for instance, to record audio in another application, without MPC software opened?

Apart from that, can I use it as a midi controller in another applications? Like a traditional midi controller through USB to control, for instance, reason, without using the MPC software.

Instead of buying the Live why didn't you just buy another sound card?

I was using a Novation Audiohub 2x4, until a lightning storm power outage killed it, this summer.

Now I'm using the BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC204HD and for $80 I think it's a much better soundcard than the Novation. I was so impress, that I purchase three of them for two of my pc and one for my mac pro.

I agree 1000 percent all these so called MPC wizards and no help, smh.... The vid I posted dude walks you through the process.... ( You have to listen not just look)

Did you install the drivers?
Go into midi control mode...
Get the MPC Bible from here...

So I will rephrase my problem:

- The computer recognize the MPC Live only when I have the MPC 2.0 software opened. Is there a way for my Mac to recognize the MPC Live just like a regular sound card, when is connected through usb?
- Can I sample my computer from the MPC Live, without wire it my computer to the MPC inputs, just like a regular sound card?

Are you being serious right now? All those pages you took up when you found out that the Live could be used as a interface. You were all like "I'm going to get busy and record my vocalist .." and yet you tell the guy to buy another interface and offer no help. Why the hell would he go buy another sound card? He has one in the Live Stop using 30% of the machine and running around spewing this nonsense.

Or maybe your paying a lot of $$$. You do realize the Mpc Live is a 2x6 interface ... With 1/4 jacks no xlr. But still a interface non the less. And probably better A/D - D/A on the Live then the Behringer.

Let me throw the hat in to help out.

I have not used it as a interface as I use a dedicated one.

If you watch the video and listen. Maybe a language barrier. He does let you know.

What he did was : Install the Mpc Live Drivers

Opened Pro Tools and it recognized it on Opening up. I feel most DAWS will do this if this is the only thing connected.

I believe you have to be in : Midi Control Mode in the Mpc Live.

If it doesn't recognize it in your Preferred DAW then simply go to your prefrecences in that program and select the correct Audio Interface this being the Mpc Live.

If it's a matter of just listening to iTunes and no DAWS involved. I believe you may just have to set it up on the Mac. Have you done this:

Load the Mpc Live Drivers.

Go to your Mac System Preferences

Click on your Sound icon

Under Output tab select : Mpc Live

Under Input tab select : Mpc Live

Without more information on your end about what you have done and what you haven't .

First off l help more people here with legit questions than you do.

2nd of all l been knew the Live was an interfece when those same no machine live having assbclowns were telling me to get an intetface and was put in check that Live was an interface. I gave the dam schematics of it in my video, stfu!

Since your ass know so much and you motha **** are following me around, you would know fool l only use it fir the drums, dedicated sequencer and a few of the functions it has, l said that in 2016! Why in the Hell lma use every function in it, do you use every function in it? I got powerful software plus l use the 2.5 software. Its my fu**ing machine l use it how ever the f*** l want.

Let me see SOUND CARD, INTERFACE, SOUND C. A. R. D, INTERFACE , you talking about.

Thanks 4 those who answer trying the help.

I come from different machines, SP606, 2500, Maschine, etc. I was hoping to use the MPC Live as a standalone machine and being able to route my instruments in Reason through mpc midi tracks. As far as I've found, there is no way to do it. If I use it in standalone, there's no midi connection with the computer, I have to switch to controller mode to do that.

Had to let dude know. Im good.

No disrespect to your question when l answered.

Now with the explanation you have given l undetstand much better. I have Reason 10 do you?
Here's a work around which l used with the 2000XL with Reason for years.

I Dont know your setup. If you have an intetface connection to your computer and have stereo outs that can go into the Live's 2 inputs you could record/sample Reason sounds into the standalone and place it on a pad. You have way more sampling time than the legacy machines.

Try it out see if you like it. Or, since ypur on the computer open up the MPC software with Reason and rock out.

That would be jazzy if we could fo what you initially wanted.
