I'm so happy I purchased this machine. I was very concerned about the price and all the things people who owned previous MPC's had to say about the "beast", but what a wonder drugs for my tracks.
The "punch" of my tracks jump out at my ears now. As far as the "swing"of this unit goes, I have plenty of friends that have the 3000 and 2000xl and they cannot tell the diffenerence. It is now the center piece of my setup and controls everything.
Out of everything I have, I'm at a point where a can't live without it. I use Reason 2.0 also, which I originally, thought was simply for dance music, which I'm not really into( I do R&B, HIp Hop and POp music), but, I now use Reason to just create new sounds and textures. The rex files in REason are great as far as creating loops using different filters on them saving them as AIFF's, then, opening up in Aksys and editing them in Peak 3.0. I know alot of you have pC's and use soundforge, but, whatever works for you....
Anyway for you newbies like me that are unsure, the first couple of weeks are a little intimidating for sure. There are alot of little areas you've got to go in to do little things, but you soon find yourself flying around. I love using the akai software package, becuase it is so easier to drag and drop files to load and save them. it's alot more involved doing it through the hardware and easier to erase something to me.
But, ohhh the new beats I'm making. I don't question my prurchase any longer. I'll leave you with this newbies.
There are people who will diss this "The Beast", but let it go, cause I'm sure there were people who diss the 3000 and those people dissed the 2000xl, but, how many hits have been made with both machines. What it boils down to is who is making the tracks. If your making wack tracks without this beast, you'll be making wack"er" tracks with it, becuase your tracks will stand out more (lol!!!).
Most poeple who dis are not comfortable with the inital learning curve.
I will admit there is one, depending on your level of intelligence, give or take two weeks of constantly working with it it gets easier and easier, then go compare your beats to da kids with the 3000. By the way tell them you don't need to get floppy disk and zips, etc. you store everything on your "internal hardrive" or your CDrom!!!!
