line input 3/4 on rear of mpc x

Hi All,

for some reason i cannot get any audio working when i connect a source to the phono inputs 3/4 when the switch is flicked to "Line" . However if i switch it up to phono i get audio but it is obviously too loud as the source im using is not from a turntable. does anyone know why this could be? is there anything i am missing?

p.s FYII i have the switch set to 'rear' and not 'front'

my only conclusion is the line must be for the 1/4" inputs, sorry i think ive worked it out!!

Hi Lampdog yes I know that but I initially thought the RCA inputs on the rear where for either a phono signal or line level depending on the switch position but realised the switch selects either the 1/4” inputs or the RCA inputs.

So I’ve bought some 1/4” jack to phono adaptor plugs plugged them into the rear 1/4” input sockets and connected my source (Bluetooth adaptor). Switched the switch on the rear to “line” and hey presto high quality sound input for sampling

ok ill go down the rabbit hole and ask..

why are you using bluetooth to record AUDIO INTO the machine? bluetooth has limited fidelity range by nature of design.

Just so I am clear as I have been trying to find this out.

If I want to run my turntable through my dj mixer into the X to add scratches, etc. it needs to go through the 1/4 inch inputs.

I was hoping I could run it through the rca's (switched to line) and have an additional stereo pair of inputs via the 1/4 inch. I guess not.

Please confirm at your convenience!

your mixer has line level out. the X has line level in.

so the "tape record" or whatever its called on your particular mixer, is input into the line on on the X.

Hi mate no you can only use the RCA for a turntable as it has a different preamp in it tailored to the specific signal of a turntable (I’m guesing moving magnet and probably not moving coil turntables) the line level inputs are the 1/4” as you rightly pointed out. The switch just switches between the RCA or the 1/4 sockets.

you are incorrect.

the live/x can use turntable OR line level instruments. read your manual.
