Best drum synth with the MPC Live

I'm looking at a hardware drum synth as a main sample fodder for my Live.
I'm mostly using the Waldorf Attack app on the Ipad, but I'd like some nice hands-on hardware.
Any of you has any experience with the Jomox Mbrane 11 and /or Mbase 11?

Any other options?

I looked into jomox at one point, the consensus was buyer beware as QC and customer support aren’t thier strong suit. However, the consensus is they make great sounding stuff as well.

There are many in differnt budget ranges. If I was looking for one I’d consider the double drummer by audiothingies.

The Roland tr-08 is a lot of fun but pretty basic for editing sounds.

I haven’t seen much but there’s an analog drum machine coming out Soon from moog. Like brother from another mother or something goofy.

On the lower end of price there are also a lot of eurorack options, not sure if that’s your thing but there’s a lot.

Perhaps maybe even a nice mono synth that can make rhythmic sounds, seen some cool drum sounds shaped with an analog 4/keys, various moogs, etc.

Mfb tansmaus or raspberry lite is a good cheap option. Used to own a raspberry and the kick drum and clap are some of the best. As were the toms actually. Sequencer is fiddly but can do step automation which is great. May sell my turn for one actually as findi g the turn to be overkill now I have a Live.

if you want TR style sounds, check out the novation drumstation rack (mark II pref.) - killer
(all novation supernova synths also have this soundset, and soundengine on board)

The Moog DFAM is not coming soon, they only released a few units at a Moogfest and that's about it..

Volca Kicks are pretty awesome, within the unit itself you can make some convincing drums. Kicks damn hard too. Then when processed through the Live, possibilities are endless.

Pretty sure I just read somewhere they are going to make a production unit of it. I could be wrong or it was bad info but I’m pretty positive there was some sort of announcement.

I agree the TR8 is basic, but it sounds really good.
I'm not even a massive fan of drummachines, but I do own it, and all its sounds just always fit so damn well in the mix.
I recently saw the Egyptian Lover demo of the new TR-08, and at least compared to the OG 808, it sounded way thinner.
I find the TR8 sounds very full and fat.

The tr-08 sounds better than the demos out there, however there’s a big difference between using the ONE 1/8” output vs over usb. It might not be as good a tr-8 or a real 808, but it does sound good. A lot bigger of a sound than I was expecting.

I don’t use the tr-08 much but for the size and price it’s a really fun machine. I imagine the tr8 to be more fun with a few more options for sounds, like scatter effects, more drum sounds etc.

Korg electribes might fit the bill for this one too. Never got into them but I remember the older ones with the tubes being able to really manipulate sounds like crazy. Newer ones might be even better. Either way I’m pretty sure they are pretty cheap these days.

A Tempest has been on my wishlist since forever.

I'm currently looking at things like LXR (seems a nice diy kit I could solder over Christmas) or a Nord Drum 2.

Vermona DRM is also a sick drum module. More unique sounding than an 808 or 909. Would go great with Live as its sequencer.
