The Pads on the MPC1000 are the same width as the MPC2000, but they are a little shorter (to save space on the MPC1000).

The MPC1000 has graphic .wav editing.

Good point. Y'all know that the 1000 has MORE features that the XL, though, not less. The filters and other parameters are not only more diverse, but can be automated in real time via the two sliders. Not like my 2K or your 2k XL, where it's only on retrigger. I believe the pads on the 1000 are the same size, but don't quote me. Also, the 1000 will NOT read parameters from 2k and 2kXL models. It WILL read the samples and pad placement from the XL, though. And, the 1000 comes stock with three separate chanels of efx, two for independant assign, and one stereo for the output bus. Ok, so the screen is whack. Can anyone tell me is that screen has waveform display? Cus in the specs, Akai mentions a feature setup similar to the mpc 60. That indicates to me 'no waveform'.

Welp I haven't purchased my mpc 2000 xl. I think i'm just going to save myself 6 hundred bones and pick up one of these rascalz to mess with. It seems like the best way to go.

you should read the manual, it has waveform display. I just wish it would've had timestretch.

OK
I've been saving for a 2000xl for a while (my ol ensoniq EPS, is crashing a lot lately). I like the idea of the 1000 being semi-portable. Now I don't own a 2000xl so you guys need to let me know; WHERE is your 2000xl made, japan? Taiwan? If you look closely at the promo pics of the 1000's rear, you'll notice "made in China". China is not known for pro audio equipment manufacturing. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. I've been waiting for the 1000, but I'm waiting for some sucka...I mean customer who will try it out. I don't want a dj toy (as Fooo mentioned), I'm looking for rock solid sampling. As soon as it's official that the 1000 is junk, I'm buying a brand spankin new 2000xl, forget ebay. If the 2000xl lasts as long as my EPS did, I'll be a happy beat manipulator.

The 4000's are assembled in China as well.

I'm quite happy with my 2kxl and see no need for the 1g. From the looks of the overhyped 4k and what it doesn't do as was promised, doesn't it seem odd that its coming out right before christmas?? Akai, thanks for the MPCs but eat a dyck in not supporting your already proven machines.

if they gave us a unit that was smaller and more compatible with modern tech that also performed as well as the bigger bro's, why would we keep the 2Kxl at all? why would anyone consider buying a 2kxl at all? I dont think that is the idea. at lest if it is they deserve to go bankrupt.

well, it wouldn't be that strange, why would they want us to keep the 2kxl, maybe they'd give it up and move on. wouldn't it be great for them to have all 2kxl users move to the 1000?
but i know this isn't the case because im just joining this forum and after considering all pro's and cons i'm getting a maxed out 2kxl 2nd hand for just a bit above the price of a 1000.
my main consideration for getting the 2kxl is that it has 'velocity->filter envelope' modulation, and the 1000 doesn't have that af.a.i.k.
that plus the higher sequence resolution, better (IMO) interface layout and proven quality over the years.

Well I have the 2000XL and the 1000 and I use both but I use the XL more not because it is better but because it has stuff the 1000 dosen't have and vice versa. both are great and very power machines for what they do.

I been using my XL for 4 years and have been fine, but I also copped a 1000 and its so much easier to interchange sounds between my pc and 1000 than on my XL, I dependent on loads of ZIPS!
I hate the Flash Card but I can store Loads of sample on my 1Gig Card and also back them up on my PC.

but also not to forget the 1000 come standard with features the xl dont of which you have to go out and buy. 1g has 6 outs, xl has just 2 unless u go buy the 8 out card which makes 10, you can upgrade to more memory on a 1g where as on a xl the most is 32meg standard spec is only 2MB compared to a 16MB.

Backing up yous sounds, joints, seqs are awkard on a xl if you are not aware of FAT and FAT32 formats and the changing of OS information when you move a XL disk to PC.

XL you have to purchase an extra effects board, 1G already built in.

What I hate is no REVERSE or TIME STRETCH or NOTE SHIFTING in the time correction Window.

But what I do like is, I can cut my breaks (samples) without having to copy my samples loads of times, the 1G has an extract function so i can take out the parts i want from a sample. saving me ram space.

I wouldnt call the 1G a entry level machince trust me! its definetly a mid-pro or maybe even pro level.

but seriously, the 1000 pads are NOT the same as the 2000xl. this is bullshit. nowhere near the sensitivity. make you play drums like a robot. mind you my 2000xl had to be replaced 6 times in the first month before i got one that had no major problems. akai should spend more time getting the 2000xl right before trying to shop us new improved versions. ish man.

Swissmaster Cheese wrote:Scrait up and down mane, I agree with what Foo is saying...the question I have is this-Is this new MPC gonna stomp the 3k/60 series market?......I mean, we can pretty much consider the 2k market dead as now you can step up to a basic 2kxl instead of going halfass with a 2k....not to knock anyone who has a 2k but I think once the 1k hits anyone trying to sell a 2kis gonna be hurtin'.....

you do have a computer obviously. compute english you dickhead. what is a scrait and where is its mane. we are trying to have a serious discussion you know mane.
