hey guys i had an mpc 4000 before and i could shift the tracks left and right + and - 50 and hear the results right away like making samples play later or earlier.

any way with the X i cant find anything so far?

a bit like in Reason with groove shift

thanks!

You can shift in real time, but you do not hear the changes on the fly--it will need to cycle once. I miss the instantaneousness of the MPC 4000 note shifting as well.

Hi there, your comment about shifting notes in real time on the mpc4000 got me curious, i've got an mpc4000 but i've never been able to do this, you can't move notes on the piano roll screen unless you stop the sequencer, how do you shift notes in real time? thanks!

On grid view you can’t highlight the track with the notes on it you want to move and just move them with the jog wheel? Or use the marquee tool and lasso the notes you want (if not the whole track) and nudge them?

Not sure if I understand exactly the question...

You can shift notes in the time Quantize page selected the notes and shift or you can use list mode to shift individual notes with it set to nudge. Also you should be able to lasso a range of notes in step edit like the poster said holding no snap and set to nudge dial in the range to shift as it plays.

same here, but on the 4k you can quantize (selected / all) notes real time (while playing) non destructive - something the X/live is not (yet) able to my understanding

you mean every note on every track? or do you mean every note on a SINGLE track?

im sorry im just not getting the question.

live /x has multiple undo ...

Of course it does that. Set your quantize division and swing, then record.

Though, when you say “non destructively”, I take it to mean you cannot remove that quantization and be left w/ the notes as you originally played them. That is true.

Yes being able to check quantisation settings and shift notes in real time on the "timing correct" screen is great, but this only work with quantisation "on", if you set it to "off" then you can't set the shift amount... In other words, if you want to leave your track unquantised and only correct a note here and there, this doesn't work for that..
What I'm trying to do is, say you have recorded an un-quantised beat and you like it but want to move an individual note 1 kick hit for example and leave the rest unaffected) while the sequencer is running.. You can do this on the MPC1000 with JJ os 2/2xl/3 bu I haven't found a way to do this on the 4k..

On the 4K you should use step edit to move unquantized notes to any position. However; I don’t know if it is real time or not.
