So - I returned the original unit as I felt I'd exhausted all options.

I just received a new one from the Gear4Music today and am having the same issue - SD card however formatted and whatever I use KEEPS ejecting itself.

I just put a USB stick in and am not having the same issues at all. But this doesn't seem the solution. It's an expensive bit of kit - the SD card reader should work properly.

Can someone who has no problems with the SD card reader please tell me exactly what brand, config their using?

It gotta be the card being you got a new unit and you did what l suggested by using a usb stick and no problems there.

I am using PNY SD 8 gig card, formatted to ExFat. I have no problems whatsoever.

You be able to get this at Walmart etc or ebay. Hell lma get these two for back up

Same problem with my mpclive. No matter what card I use when it is connected to my computer it just keeps ejecting and mounting over and over. So annoying. I am way past the date where I can just do a simple swap with the place I bought it from at this point. Now I'll probably have no choice but to send it to Akai

Use a USB stick and tell us what happens.

I went ahead and installed a 500 gig spin hard drive in my x. I don't have any troubles. I could have used a ssd I have laying around the house. But, I save ssd for pc operating systems.

I have exactly the same issue and nobody can seem to work it out. Not even Akai themselves!

It happens on my live and my X and both my laptop and desktop which leads me to believe it’s not a hardware issue but something to do with the software. Especially as it only occurs in controller mode

There IS however a workaround, try using a USB 2.0 cable and that should work fine. It has stopped the problem for me. It seems the USB 3 cables themselves are causing it.
I bought another one from marlin to see if it was the blue ones Akai provide as I heard they are dodgy but didn’t solve it. So by process of elimination I am sure this is the issue. I’m still trying to get a solution from Akai on this but I am holding out for a future update which may sort this glitch out. But in the meantime the old 2,0 cables will work

Hope this helps!

I've bought the MPC Live a few days ago and this issues is frustrating and wonder if it's specific to my unit.

I've tried different SD Cards and have the same issue. Any feedback or advice welcome.

It’s possible this is related to the power the USB port (on the computer device) is able to provide. I found on my MacBook Pro from 2012, I get the issue no matter how I connect the MPC, but on my MacBook Air from 2015 I don’t.

I’m still investigating but that’s my current hunch. The MPC’s card reader, when attached to the Air is listed, attached to the Pro it isn’t.

If I connect the MPC to one of the charging ports of a D-Link USB hub (DUB-H7), it works perfectly when connected to either MacBook.

I’m pretty sure this is down to power/reliability of power on computer’s USB port/s.

Just to update: after having this issue with two Lives I gave up and stuck with the 4000 for a while.

In the summer I re-bought the Live and also got an X. I don't have the SD card ejecting issue with either and I'm using the same cards, and computer as when I originally posted.

I know it doesn't help much but I wonder if there was either a bad batch of units produced with this issue or faulty USB cables. Akai had no answers...

Really happy with both the Live and X now and glad this jarring issue didn't kill em totally for me. Good luck all!
