Can i actually connect any midi controller keyboard to the mpc x by only connecting it to via USB to the back of the mpc X?

Yes, if it's class compliant which I think most are. I use an Arturia minilab 2, no problems

You can connect a midi keyboard to the X via 2 midi cables.

You might can connect midi "Y" cable to usb from a midi keyboard to the X.
