Not sure if it can be missing the driver as it is connecting fine after a reboot. Are you having to reboot each time you try to connect?

Please give more details on your exact system specs, in particular which macOS you are running.

BTW, the uninstaller is in Library > Application Support > Akai > MPC

Also try using a different USB cable as the blue one that ships with the X has been known to be problematic.

Unfortunately i still have this problem, i thought i fixed it but it still having issues for switching to controller mode.
This only happens now and then that the mpc x says looking for computer.
I tried changing the usb cable but same issue.

Uninstall 2.0 software. Reinstall it, this time the page will pop up with:
1. 2.0 software
2. Live tab software
3. X tab software. <------ choose that and it will give the correct drivers for the X. When you want to go controller mode always open the 2.0 software first then put the MPCx into. Controller mode.

If the above doesn't work then your OS high sierra might be the problem, with all the horror stories I've read and heard about it I'm staying far away... I just got one too a week or so ago and the installation was a breeze but i'm still on El Capitan (10.11)

If you just upgraded to Sierra you might wanna hold off. Just cause the OS is new you keep with the stable OS and give the new some time to be stable. It took me a long time to go from win7 to win10.
