Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Big up BRAVO & PENFOLD!! It seems like you are the only guys representing London on this forum.

Im in Camberwell trying to set up my home studio. I'm technically a newbie so any help would be appreciated.

Will travel with my MPC (and a sack) to get the job done.

percy wrote:^ nah, you only need the 5V (red) and the ground cable (black).. the yellow cable can be cut off. in fact, if you are modifying the original power cable the floppy was connected to (which i did) then there isn't even a yellow cable there..

percy do you think you could possibly break down exactly how you did this, maybe with a clear digital pic? that would be great.
thanks.

dunno if you need this now, sorry for the delay but i haven't had a reason to open the thing up until this morning (installed the 8 outs).. anyway :

that's the original power cable still plugged into the motherboard, i just snipped the wires close to the end that was plugged into the floppy drive.. then, i bought the new power cable needed for the zip and snipped off the yellow wire. then i just connected the loose ends of the 2 cables together in the terminal block (this isn't exactly necessary, you could twist the wires together but i think this way is safer)..

does that help at all?

From that pic...Every1 should be good to go!

Thanks for the pic but thats exactly how I had it installed. I returned the zip and I am currently waiting on another 100mb and a 250mb drives to try out. If the new drives don't work I don't know what to do. I also got a new ribbon cable just in case. I'll let you know how things work out for me when I get the new drives. I have bad luck with zips, I have 3 external zips that are all dead from the click of death.

Shout out to Bravo and Penfold.

Now that the holiday's are out of the way, any of you guys fancy helping a brother out? My zip install still refuses to co-operate! This is the second zip 100 i've tried and it's very frustrating. I NEED to lose some of those wires in my studio!

As I said before, I live in camberwell, will travel, with a sack!

Any other cats in the area who can offer practical help, will be appreciated.

Musicians achieve very little alone, who knows what can develop from a chance meeting???

One of the biggest problems when installing mine was figuring out what way the ide cable was supposed to go. You have to try it every possible way. Thats probly where you are stuck at. The cable may not be inserted the right way.
