Okay. That makes sense. So I am going to buy a small mixer now to avoid to switch the 1/4" inputs all the time.

Phono is short for phonograph which is the term for records and record players, the Live has an internal preamp to boost that kind of a signal which is why they included the switch.

The adapters shown by Lampdog and Yorgos will help your situation though, thats all you need really.
