No it's not in the manual, I've been searching everywhere for info about this. I'm wanting to load mp3s into the MPC Live for pad sounds so it's not as memory intensive as using WAVs. Then use the higher quality sounds for drum samples, leads etc.

It mentions in the manual it exports as either wav, aiff or mp3 and seems to be able to load any of these files. Does any know if when it loads it's converting the files into wavs anyway or is it actually loading and triggering the mp3s?

It converts them, so no memory saving :(

All incoming audio is converted to 32 bit floating point audio, so a 1 minute mp3 uses the same memory as a 1 minute 24 bit wav. More about this in my article http://www.mpc-tutor.com/how-much-memor ... ive-mpc-x/

thanks for a great post! surely cleared some of my questions.
though i have one live project at 260mb, and it's right at the border of low memory message. about 450 samples, total of 24 minutes length or so..

Assuming initially 16 bit that's going to be around 500MB of memory used, so you should have over 50% left over. You're not the first person to have this problem, there does seem to be some irregularities, not sure what's triggering it though.

Hi,
I`ve been reading through the forum and I Wanted to ask:
I`m converting my sample packs, Loop[s, one shots, etc all in MP3 files to compress and save storage in my memory card to be used in projects in my MPC Live2 is it that a mistake?

Thanks
