MPCX/Live with a Hard Disc Recorder

I was thinking about a complete recording solution without a computer using the MPCX/Live with a Hard Disc Recorder. 8 Tracks with the MPCX/Live and a Hard Disc Recorder 16 or 24 tracks sync to the MPCX/Live.

Have anyone tried this yet. I think even the old Alexis Adats can be used for additional recording tracks. Audio tracks can still be edited in the MPCX or transfer into a DAW.

What would be awesome if Akai implement hard disc steaming with unlimited tracks to external hard drives.

The hard disc streaming has been in beta since March for the standalone MPC Live/X “allegedly “. Hopefully we see something about it at Namm. I want to phase out my tascam dp 24.

I have the setup you are inquiring about.

I dont use the mpc daw at all. Everything is hardware.

In addition to my other external gear,

I have a fostex D2424LV which is a 56 track SSD recorder.
I use an analog 48 input desk and I have a few patchbays to connnect all the gear I have.

When i want to do some different edits of tracks, i will track out the individual outs from the X into the desk and use the mutes on the desk.

I sync all my gear with a MOTU midi timepiece AV. I send out word clock to the fostex and my Sony’s pcm 7040 dat.

Disc streaming on the live/x will be cool. Hopefully at namm inmusic will announce a date....

The DP is huge right. I don't blame you. I own the DP03, its slim jimmed on a sliding shelf that I pull out when I need it. Since the MV is gone, I have a lot of space.

When the Live can sample via USB then disc streaming will be possible. Shouldn't be hard either since the Live acts as an interface.

Do you know where the "insert" option found in so many traditional multitrack recorders is,
in the d2424 up to mkII ? or is it named differently ?

inserting is puting copied measures at a certain point while pushing forward the already recorded
data, and not pasting "over"..

& also, which version is the most complete ?
