Screen Config Problem Installing Touch on Mac Mini + Mac Pro

Ok big problem thats not letting me use my Mpc touch... any help appreciated

The Mac Pro and Mac Mini both have no built in display, as they are typical desktop form, and need to be used with an external monitor, which I would connect through HDMI. They are not like the macbooks, iMacs with built in display and I'm sure the display link driver has something to do with this problem.

I've installed the mpc software on a bunch of iMacs and MacBooks which have built in displays and Ive installed the software dozens and dozens of times following correct procedure, following installation steps correctly, restarting my computer after every step, so I pretty much know the installation process pretty well.

The last step of installation, screen configuration, has always worked fine when installing the software on a computer with built in display. It asks if the mpc screen is working and looks fine and you confirm yes and the process is finalized.

Recently Ive tried to install mpc 2.0.8, the newest release, on Mac pro and Mac mini, both connected to an external monitor through HDMI. Every time, when I get to the final step in my process, 'screen configuration'.. it asks me to turn on my mpc, but the display doesn't configure and both my external monitor and mpc touch screen go blank for few seconds, instead of getting "Does your MPC touch display appear to work correctly?" where I would click "Yes" and finish installation. After my displays on my monitor an the touch come back on I find that I am logged out of my mac user profile and need to enter my mac password to sign back in only to find that the installation software has crashed or closed and installation never completes.

Anyone have this issue? I need a solution

I've uninstalled multiple times and tried to reinstall the whole mpc software/drivers but never get past that final step... "screen config" this is only on Mac Pro, and Mac Mini which use a separate display. On laptops, iMacs, MacBooks the mpc software always installed fine, the screen configured correctly with no problems.

Ive uninstalled displaylink driver through displaylink website, like Akai instructs and I follow all instructions correctly when un-intsalling and re-installing. I know the process and have done it before. Just something with the screen config and display link is not working on these setups..

Mac mini (late 2014) Intel dual Core i7 (3.0GHz) - 16GB Memory - 2TB Fusion Drive

Both running MacOs High Sierra 10.13

Also maybe it has something to do with the External display I'm using..

To paraphrase, he says to "disable Mirror Mode, enabling Extend Mode, right as the installer turns your Touch screen on during configure screen set up via keyboard shortcut (Command + "lower screen brightness").

Also, you may be able to disable Mirroring in the preferences with your Touch connected, prior to installation: Sys Prefs/Displays/Arrangement/uncheck Mirror Display."

I actually just figured it all out and everything is working now... I came to post the solution but I guess there is a known one already, thank you so much for the fast response though. I would of been going crazy a few more days without the mpc.

I'm not noticing a lot of Touch users here. Looks like most newer MPC users went from the Renaissance (or stuck with it) to the Live & X. I'm really liking this piece. I hope it keeps Akai's attention along side the stand alone units.

Yep, it seems hardly anyone bought the Touch, but it always seemed a bit of a half hearted job from Akai just to keep punters ticking over until they got the standalones working.

Seems discontinued in all but name. But if you don't want standalone, it's a great option.
