Seems to me that elektron samplers are made to be used within the “Elektron ecosystem”. There are many who would disagree and a lot of elektron fanboys who would get fired up over that statement.

I really didn’t dig the sound, you can say that it’s the same as your x but you describe it as being colored. The elektron “color” isn’t a feature in my book, it’s a flaw. If you do most of your work on the elektron, you should be fine but at the time I was trying to get a mix from a lot of sources and the digitakt would never sit right it’s everything else. It gathered dust for a month or two and I sold it.

Yes I agree with almost all you are saying about elektron and for those reasons I've avoided most of their product range. I do think the Analog Keys and Octatrack MK2 are the exceptions out of the product range and both sit well with other synths. Im using the Octatrack MK2 for for sampling vinyl and as the sound is really coloured in the midrange as stated previously. Im also using the OT2 as 4 bar ideas scratchpad --to record all my synths in over the top of the vinyl loop. (Merlins Guide:-Abusing a track for Live input). I do like the summing of samples more on OT2 than my MPC-X but thats just me,

The flagship Elektrons are probably their heavyweights in the studio. Machinedrum was an underground hit among producers (not saying for underground music, but it was well underrated). So I'm not downing those, just I don't like the handling of the Digitakt by Elektron. If it allowed me to sample to the 16 buttons and resolved the occasional to frequent freezes, then I would still use it. But its been 7 months since a last update and they now release a new box and they have been recently searching for software and hardware developers for hire, so I know 1.5 will be small to nothing if ever comes. I need to make music, can't be smiling in the background and thanking them for a beta box.

Yeah I hear you about the Digitakt ---at least the Octatrack MK2 is fully finished product with years of updates behind it. So buy this box with confidence. Actually I'm using it as its not intended too . i slow the tempo down to 30bpm and sample up to 32 bars of music and loop and then add up to 8 tracks -, Quantise can be down to 1/384 or none at all. So I'm sort of using the OT as a 8 track DAW with these amazing sfx --built in. There is a nice post here about using the OT instead of a DAW but different way again to how i work with the machine.

Good question have not had a lot of time with MPC-X and found the audio tracks very confusing
compared with the OT. But like any machine you need to put in a lot of clock hours to make a final call
DJS-1000 has not arrived yet.

It’s pretty easy. Make a sequence, switch to audio track and record. I found it best to make song and convert that song to a sequence and then track everything back in from external sources.

With your new setup I would have the x as the main hub, but dedicate some of the outputs to both the octatrack and djs. You could multitrack both back into the x and export it from there. You can use the x to multi track the 4 outputs of the octatrack right now. Maybe just feed the octa track with the djs or something.

Oh yeah I subscribed moons ago. Though he quiet this time around, usually he comes with quick funny skits and explains things.

Its so vast and yet simple to use, its definitely got a mix of many worlds unified.

Changed my mind: I’m ordering an SP-16 today to A/B with the Live. I want to see which one I get on with better.

Not sure why dude is selling off the live, but hopefully he can get so more momentum with this machine.
