MPC Live/X Fine chopping techniques

MPC-Live/X vs a MPC-3000
Watched this and was amazed --maybe >64 chops on this small loop to create a brand new piece of music all on a MPC-3000. How would you approach this on a Live/X?

The new MPC are chop monsters! In that interview quest says it was the equivalent of watching someone complete a 10000 pc puzzle in record time. J would have been smashing that with these new tools.

It cannot be overstated how easy slicing has become... you can be every bit as precise as on the classic machines.

True dat. I loved the 2000XL but it has nothing on the MPC Live.

Not to wave my own flag too much, but to show what I did with an Akai s2000 and a bunch of floppies…
Peep Purdie's "Soul Drums" break and then Google Fanu: "Witchcraft".
I can't even remember how many dozens of chops that took. Chopped every hit…no sample had two drumsounds in it.
Was around 2004–2005. Did all that with a tiny text two-row text display.
Today, we're spoiled.

All of that talent and yet somehow J-Dilla got sick and did not have enough money to pay for his healthcare. Meanwhile Puffy (and The Hitmen) were sampling 2 and 4 bar phrases and generated millions because people liked their records.

Makes you wonder which road you should travel in the music zeitgeist . . . artistry or monetary?
