THANK YOU! <3
I even asked Pete on Twitter and he said "Just click on the editor button for each plugin program/insert" which did not clarify that. I thought I was dumb or something. Heh.

You can now insert events in the list editor in standalone. This was a BIG one for me.

Also peep the new mode screen "MIDI Control" from the menu. At least I think its new... Don't remember seeing it before. Maybe a precursor to a way to set the unit up for multi timbral inputs. I need to check it out in the morning.

Im also noticing the UI seems a bit snappier. Touch screen in grid mode seems a bit less fiddly to me. On 2.0.7 my pinch and zoom gestures didnt seem as smooth and my select and erase sometimes didnt feel very precise. Its much better now imo.

We've been able to do that for a while mate!

Can someone confirm that the aftertouch is still not working? I've tested with 2 external synths, list editor shows it's being recorded but not transmitted. Poly-AT works fine with the pads and is being transmitted by the sequencer.

From the Midi control menu I can't turn the aftertouch off at all, it still works as poly-AT even if all the pads are marked Off or Channel.

.

You couldn’t insert in the standalone list editor. it was only possible to delete.

In LIST EDIT since 2.0.5, press the OVERDUB button and hit a pad - this inserts an event at the current sequence time.

Yes, this would insert a note event but... there is now a tab at the bottom called "insert"

Also you can choose a mode type to add to an event which are the automation parameters. This is more specifically what I was referring to. In the previous firmware you could not insert these automation paramters in standalone mode.

I could be wrong about this added functionality but it seemed like an obvious difference between standalone and controller mode.

Menu > MIDI Control

There are 2 tabs - Hardware and XY

There is an XY pad which can be configured for external MIDI... dope! You can adjust the Channel and CC independently for X and Y.

EDIT: Wow so in MIDI control mode you can set up external MIDI control of the Live. I mean EVERYTHING. Once in MIDI Control tap on the "control" field and scroll through with the jog wheel. EVERYTHING is assignable to external MIDI control and there different options for different functions. How did they leave this out of the release notes? I never expected this to be implemented at all. Can someone confirm this works the way I think It will. I dont have my controllers handy.

Hell yea. Can you explain some. I can’t update until late tonight at the earliest. How is the editing done? Is it easy to use or clunky?

Be cool if they integrated the step sequencer and automation editing into all of this. You would basically be able to do plocks and all types of crazy stuff.

Not sure if you have used legacy MPCs before but List Editor behaves more like those do after this update. I wouldn't call it clunky but yeah it is poor man's plocking. That said its effective...

Record some notes and then enter the list editor. Tap on a note event and then tap on the "mod type" field. You can scroll through a few paramters like Tune, Filter Cutoff, Resonance and Amt and a couple others

What is better and what I am sure is new is the tab called "insert" at the bottom. Tap on that and a screen opens in which you can choose anywhere in the time of the sequence of the track to insert all kinds of events. You can enter note events, program automation for any individual pad (ANY program pad paramter),
Program Mixer Automation as well as MIDI CC paramters on MIDI tracks.

I can't believe I missed this stuff in the 2.0.7 firmware if it was there... I suppose its possible but I don't think so.

I understand list edit. I was curious about the xy and midi automation. It’s there I’m thinking they can implement some crazy stuff. I guess I’m putting some pieces together in a weird way... I’m thinking sequencing midi ccs, and being able to edit them with the xy like a kaoss pad but also using automation editing ( nonexistent ) like you can edit velocity or what ever. Weird stuff pops into my head man, not trying to confuse anyone.

They might not have mentioned it as it’s the frame work for multitimbral support. Like I believe you mentioned. When I get home, I’ll see what I can muster up. I’ll see what plugging in the keystep, apc40, and a few other things do. I know the apc would send messages it would receive. But there was no way to map it. Like the clip launch buttons would be play and stop, or a bass drum there was no order to it. If what you’re saying is true I might be able to control aspects of th elite with the apc, most importantly the faders...

Yeah I was also thinking to use it to bring up different modes which show up as options in the menu. I don't think it's fully implemented yet but looks promising.

The midi control has been that way. Honestly I don’t understand it much and wasn’t aware it had a xy pad. I think everything we are saying holds true, but I don’t think there was any upgrades to that menu. I haven’t automated anything with cc for a few months now, I’d have to go through my old projects to see how I did it.

I did hook up the apc again and it has so much potential if it could be mapped better. Either a midi learn feature on the live or a way to map the apc without a computer. The faders were set to volume on some of the samples in the program and showed so much potential, but the implementation is so unpredictable and not usable at all. A whole new ball game if midi controllers can be mapped better with the live and even better with usb powered ones.

Overall decent update. The pitch quantize was really cool with some chords on pad keygroup. I want to hear it on some chopped up samples next but I’m too tired tonight.
