I recently updated my MPC Live and the MPC software to the latest versions.

I started a project in STANDALONE mode one day and then opened it up in the software the following day.

Now, I cannot open the project up in STANDALONE mode at all, however it’ll open up in the software.

This is an issue for me because I usually start my projects in STANDALONE mode and open them up in the software from time to time...

Has anybody else been having this problem? Seems like a nasty bug to me - anybody know of a workaround? I’m just not opening my project files in the software or just making duplicate files to use.

So when you try to load in standalone. What happens? Be more descriptive. Does an error pop up? Does it just do nothing? How many projects have you tried? If you create new project, save it - create new project again and then try to reload the one you just saved with nothing in it, what happens? I'm not on the latest firmware as I knew some people have issues etc. It's only happened since update I assume?

A dialog box pops up and says that the MPC Live cannot open the project file. I’ve tried two project files. When I try to open up the project file in a new project, I get the same dialog box. However, I am able to open the individual files from the original project itself.

Since I am running only in stand-alone mode, I will just throw out an idea or two as possible things to look for or try. Maybe someday I will install the software, but my interest in the MPC X/Live is all about stand-alone.

What the OP is describing sounds to me as if there may be an overriding project file that contains only the macro information about the project such as pointers into tracks, where the various resources files (audio, midi, samples, etc.) are, track and project names, state information, and probably some sort of flags as to the state of the project. It is likely that the problem resides with these flags.

When saving a project on the PC/Mac, is there any type of "Save As" or other type of selection as to how to save the project? Is there possibly some type of flag(s) that are set by some setting in a preferences section in the PC/Mac that has somehow changed with the update?

Thinking along those lines might lead to a solution so that either the problem isn't really a bug, or if it is a bug, then possibly something along these lines might serve as a work-around until Akai can address it.

Are you trying to open from the quick launch opening screen, or have you gone into the filesystem and try to open projects from there? I noticed, on the last update, that the quick launch “recent projects” files will only open from the browser file directory, not the opening screen.

Once you open them from the file directory, they will refresh on the home screen, and subsequently fix themselves.

I am still dealing with this problem. I just do the projects in STANDALONE mode altogether.

CMAJOR: Did you try reinstalling the latest firmware as I suggested to your homie in the other thread?
It seemed to correct the issue for him, I'm a little mystified that you're still having issues....
Is the standalone project created in 2.1? If not, it will fail to load. Both desktop and hardware will need updating for this to work.
This link may help.
http://www.akaipro.com/pages/mpc-2.1-de ... are-update
Can you mount the drive you save to on the desktop without opening the software? You may need to transfer the projects to the desktop and reformat the MPC drive & then transfer back.
If you get no joy with these then hit Akai up...
Let me know how you get on, bro...

Peace
