2.1 browser search

Hey,

I think I must be doing it wrong!

With the search option on 2.X, I was hopping I can go to my root folder where all projects are saved (each project has sub-folder) and search for samples; 'New Sample' to find samples I used on all my projects. Now, this doesn't bring any results as the samples are saved within sub-folders. Does this makes sense? I also work on Ableton Live and that works in there and provides such a help to quickly find samples that are saved on different projects (within different folders etc...)

The other issue is, that in the new browser I'm not able to open project folder (the one that gets created when you save projects and consists of all data/samples). This worked on 1.9.6 but doesn't on 2.X?

I'm on 7 days trial for 2.1 and considering to put my purchase on hold....

You guys have these issues? Does it bother you? Any workarounds?

'Search' only searches the current directory, not sub folders. Despite Akai's claims that the Browser was going to be massively improved in 2.0 it's really not at all. There is no library wide 'index' like you get in other software.

To view project folders, make sure you toggle the 'Show MPC Content Directories' filter - this is at the bottom right of the browser in the software, or along the top in the touch UI.

I think it's still a good upgrade for the Ren in terms of added functionality, but there are still a lot of functions that are not available (or poorly implemented) in the hardware UI, so you'll definitely need to spend time working directly in the software and using the mouse. But still worth it for $99 (I also believe you can also get a 10% discount code on the purchase page).

Not sure if Akai plan any further updates specifically for the Ren/Studio hardware UI though.
