why have mulit track recorder and Software sequencer???

why would some one use these both, what are the advantages if the multi track recorder can burn cd's? arent they both the same thing really, a mixer and cd burner? thanks for the input.

Ok ......
1. Multi Track Recorder, Records Multiple Audio Tracks. allows you to edit mix down etc....

2. a Sequencer (software of hardware) is what you use to build your music of course that music you build will be first a compilation of individual tracks that at some point you would record into the multitracker and begin to apply whatever needed adjustments in terms of sound.
including adding vocals etc...

you couldnt really make a beat on a Multitracker unless it came with a built in drum kit, if you know what i mean.

3. The CD part, if it does come with a CD burner then great!
cause you can burn you finished product to a CD as well as backing up your project (all the files, tracks, settings etc to a CD)

Now I'm thinking your trying to compare a Multi Tracker to a PC
It comes down to relying on a PC or having a Purpose built Device to do the job. Some feel better with DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations) and some prefer Digital Multi Trackers like my DPS16. its made staright for what I want to do, no having to worry about it crashing or other stuff. well the chances of it crashing are smaller anyway.

Just to add to whats written about.... often software sequencers have capabilities like VSTis, which allow you to play virtual instruments through a midi keyboard

so if i had a multi track recorder with a cd burner with my mpc, i really wouldnt need software? unless i wanted to add some other effects to it? also, if the recorder didnt have a cd burner how would u get it into the PC to burn? i recorded my sequences from my mpc to cool edit, and i always have trouble having all the tracks fit right, and sometimes it seem impossible to get them to line up the way i had it in to MPC. how would u do it? thanks for the info.

Make your mpc slave to the cool edit use midi clock or time code set your frame rates and you will be on time everytime my friend

Yep, you are on the right track. I use an Akai DPS16 with a CD writer. None of my work goes anywhere near a computer and I never have problems/questions/gripes/virii/crashes/lag/incompatibility/long boot times/carpal tunnel/software theft bad karma.

if the multi track recorder didnt come with a cd burner how would u save your work, and how would u burn it to a cd?

because most of the software packages offer both of these options in a single package.
