You can do the same with the 2500, depending on where you buy it, some places have a 30 day money back guarantee policy. Or sell it, but you might lose a little money.

I wouldn't stress too much about it. Get the one you "feel" the most. Learn from the experience. Worst case, you return it or sell it & get something else.

Right now I'm lookin on the MPC2000XL because the sound is really nice... Also it's cheaper, I found one in a good condition. That would be a whole nother discussion tho. Hmmmm, worth a consideration

Don't need to track anything out in that career, but thanks for the tip. Just sayin. Not here to argue, just confused by some of the posts in this thread. It's cool tho

If we had this forum when we started doing music, that would've saved us lots of time and money. Studio Engineers didn't share tips. I would say , hey whats that mpc 60. They would say its a drum machine...don't touch.

No argument here, it's hard to tell who's the Pros, Hobbyist, and Amateur are. So I just talk to everyone the same because we're all here to learn and share information around the MPC. When I was getting started people didn't say anything, even if I asked 1000 times. I had to learn the hard way. By spending mad $$$$$$$$$$$$

Also I learned that some people are talented, they just don't know how to turn their passion into a career, if they want that. Nevertheless, if I had to choose. I would get the MPC LIVE, tech support is important and using current gear is the key. I personally do not need them...but continued education is a must.

I'll just wait until AKAI sees the market in retro and releases a XL reissue with modern necessities but with oldschool sound/workflow/look or whatever haha... yeah

There is an 2000xl with Compact Flash drive, however it's pretty much a sequencer and sampler. Unlike the LIVE which is more of an Instrument, Sequencer and lastly sampler, interface, recorder.

Charles - Yeah I can tell you're being cool about things (I'm being genuine) I noticed you mentioned that previously, that you're here to share & learn

& all though I already said it, I don't have an issue with software (DAW's, vst's, whatever) I think it's filled with amazing tools. & if I DID make money off music, I would take advantage of those amazing tools. I'm still tryin too take advantage of them & find how I can get software to fit in my workflow. I'll jump on the Mk3 here & there, it's not that I don't like it......... it's hard to explain, too be honest I use multiple set ups, I'm all over the place. & I love getting my hands dirty, I understand gear breaks down, I'm just the type that would rather, fix gear than figure out what's wrong with my computer. I love taking things apart, replacing tact switches, ect, ect. & if something breaks down I use something else. I'm 38 & spend all my money on gear....... 18 without a job, I would spend more carefully.

Aya - The Live of course has more features than the 2000xl, but you make boom bap & the 2000xl can handle boom bap. It's also a lot cheaper. Just remember there is more risk with old gear, if you are ok with that, I say go for it. If you haven't decided yet, keep doin your research..... you can continue using FL (if I remember correctly that's what you use) until you decide.

Heres a boom bap track l did using the Live. Sampling is sick on the live. That lazy chop OMG YOU WOULD BE HAPPY!

I had a question about lazy chop. Can you lazy chop & still affect the chops/slices separately? Meaning, pitch 1 slice up, pitch another slice down, add an effect to 1 slice, but not the others? Things of that nature?

Also is it non-destructive?

If lazy chopping isn't destructive & you can mess with the chops/slices separately that's cool as f^k. Amazing enough, that I would actually consider selling a few MPC's to cop it.

I got all excited about Mk3's slice mode, you can't chop until after you sample, but you chop with the pads while it plays & it's non-destructive. Thing is......I can't affect the samples separately, if I pitch 1 slice up, all slices get pitched up. So I don't use it.
