I didn't think Charles was B!tchin, he just likes to discuss this stuff :) Cock D might not have been talkin about you tho Charles, we're like 10 pages in now  who ever started this thread was b!tchin. This thread is bullsh!t anyways, the new MPC's aren't failures. It's just not for some people.
Think I decided to get the Live & sell my 2500 &/or 500 &/or 1000. I only had the 2500 & 500, but my brother gave me back my 1000 (I gave it to him like a year or so ago..but he's all about Maschine Studio now)......so Im gonna sell 2, maybe keep 1 with the Live. Gotta figure out which 1 to keep tho. Gonna get the Live before sellin anything to help me decide. Might not need another MPC to go with it :smoker: I'm still mind blown over lazy chop!

I have to agree with Charles, there is a DAWless movement growing. People wanna do it all on the gear itself and maybe record to cassette. I think most people are just artists than producers. A DAW can cripple an artist's creativity just for its complexity to get started with. How many times I saw posts of people struggling with their DAWs.

The DAW less movement will soon learn once they want, separate tracks of each module. Then realize they need a MIXER with 24 inputs to track those 12 desktop modules at one time. I'm a fan of many different work flows, however I love instant setting recalls on digital.

I'm not trying to keep notebooks on top of notebooks of mixer/module instrument, effects, and levels settings. The MPC X is going in the right directions, with the cv outs and mass amount of knobs. Nevertheless, I still do not understand why the LIve/X do not have SysEx MIDI Bulk Dumps. :Sigh:

Why on earth would I want to go out and invest in a Mixer? :? :hmmm: Been there done that, I scaled down for that reason. That's so cute the new mixers have sd cards in them. NOT!!!!

24 track Mixer? LOL  Yo, yall bugging, that DAWless movement is going to go right back to DAW! Plus anyway when you want it mixed it will end up in the major studio in Protools most likely. I can get more than 24 tracks in Reason and Studio One without all the cables and extra spending cash. Plus I don't miss noise floor, another reason I got rid of the mixer, analog or digital it will come up.

I know how to rock a DAW to get what I want. WTF are we even talking about this madness for? LOL

Wormhelmet wrote:Dudes - plenty of options now in hardware mixers to spit out two track master to sd card or even spit stems out to sd.

Splicing tape - hahaha. We ain’t that greedy for old school.

Damn, I thought I was gonna have to hoof it to New York in my Nylon Track suit with my mv8800 beatbox on my shoulder to battle...

Ok. We good then

Still out though. I don’t think they’re a failure. I think I wanna continue to see them do updates as they definitely are addressing issues so far

The ironic thing is most DAWless setups are not actually DAWless considering it stands for DIGITAL AUDIO WORK STATION. Therefore they would have to stay 100% analog to be DAWless. No D/A conversion, No samples, No drum machines, pretty much that means anything with digital technology.

So, Thurston, by your logic, the MPC Live is a DAW then. Getting a little convoluted as the MPC software on PC will run in a DAW I believe, so you are connecting a DAW to a DAW to run in your DAW? More like DUH. Also that’s a ludicrous comparison. No, actually it’s beyond ludicrous. It’s gone plaid.

I believe professionals (as you are always saying you are) refer to a DAW as multitracking software that runs on a pc or Mac. You can’t classify just a sampler with limited music function (or any other digital music specific gear that falls in that category) as a pc or a Mac or other brand of multifunction personal computing.

Now go consult Lovey for a real answer (nice selfie though!)
