MPC Live memory - still no solution?

I got the MPC live to be the center of my live rig, knowing the that 2GB of sample RAM would be enough for my needs. Now I'm getting memory warnings at 267MB and can't complete the live set. I've seen older posts about this.

Anybody know if there is any type of fix available (like the new Firmware etc - I'm on 2.0.5)? I see that AKAI is still promoting the MPC Live as having 2GB RAM.

...and by fix, I don't mean truncate samples, use mono etc. I know how to optimize. I'm looking for a way to access more memory in the machine.

The MPC Live does have 2GB of RAM. Unfortunately not all of it is available for sampling, in the same way that a 16GB computer doesn't have 16GB free RAM. In my conclusion I've found it has 1130 MB of usable RAM available on boot up, which equals around 53 minutes of stereo audio (at 44.1kHz). If you are only able to load 276MB of WAV files in, then something is wrong with your Live or you've hit some kind of bug.

Someone is currently investigating hacking it for more RAM, but that's not going to be a practical hack for the average user, nor is it likely to work without making changes to the firmware.

Thanks for the reply! I've been seeing others maxing out at about 250MB. The way I came up with this figure was simply by looking at the size of the project folder when I mount the USB drive from my computer (my project uses no samples in the Vault).

Does this give an accurate figure?

I don't understand why they couldn't just build it with user-expandable memory, as on--you know--every standalone MPC before it? I mean, you can open it up to add a hard drive... but not RAM?
