Mapping Nord Drum sounds.

Hi.

I've had the MPC Live for a while now, but only yesterday got my studio setup.

So in reality i'm really starting to use the MPC Live for the 1st time.

I've just got a Nord Drum 2 & wanted to change the mapping of the drum sounds.

In default mode the MPC maps the 6 drum channels over banks D & E. I want to map them to different banks/pads.
Is this possible?

You can remap the MIDI notes on a DRUM program in the MPC Software via Edit > Program > Note Mapping. Save it and load it into standalone etc.

That's a pain, but thanks for the info.

You can do it using the midi mapping explained above, but it doesn't save and doesn't work in standalone. And if its more complicated then just clicking the chromatic button in note mapping. Its can be annoying.

Another way is to create chord progressions and use pad perform. I made a video for it and how it works. I created a chord progression for Battry, Serato Sample and my MV8800 (which works in standalone,as well). Just make sure you set your Root to C1 and give your progression a name. When you done transfer your progressions to standalone if you use it that way.

A shame that you can't do it standalone. I've since been told that you couldn't do this on previous MPC's either.

Yes it does save and it does work in standalone. What would be the point if it didn't save the custom midi mappings to the XPM file? All my samplepacks feature a custom MIDI mapping that is initially created in the software, they all transfer the mapping perfectly to standalone.

In previous hardware legacy MPCs you could change MIDI mapping very easily, although you had to do it pad-by-pad so it could take a while. But once you've made a blank program template with your preferred mapping you can just save it and keep it for future use.

I hope it helps and luck. The greatest thing about owning an MPC is there is usually multiple ways to do the same thing.
