Freezes And Dropouts

My Live is starting to freeze up. During playback, I hear the song but the unit will not respond to touching the sequence number or track. I also lose date too after a freeze. I am updated to the newest firmware.

I don't need these problems now. I spoke to the Sweetwater rep who did not know what to do. He said he will have an Akai rep contact me.

If Akai says to send them the unit, this is going right back to Sweetwater and I'm spending a few more bucks for a MacBook then I turn it in to a mobile unit with all my Contact VSTI's.

The Sweetwater rep also said that most people use their Live with the software connected to the computer. I'm a little surprised. Why not just use the Touch and save hundreds of bucks?

Downgrade to the 2.2.1 firmware if you installed 2.2.2, it's been recalled.

I have to look Bro. Just updated it a few days ago. If it was recalled, I doubt they would keep that ver up on the site.

Just checked the Akai site. it's on ver 2.2.1.

They just took 2.2.2 off the site about 3 days ago. Check to see what version your unit is running. If you upgraded in the last 7 days you might have 2.2.2

I just booted it up. it's on 2.2.1

Also having problems in Song Mode. I have 6 sequences all showing up in order on the virtual square pads but every time I hit Insert, I only get the 1st sequence. They do not stack up in order, just seq1 over and over..

Ive had a fair few freezes and crashes on the live, all in standalone, never used pc mode for anything really, the software seems to be bit of a work in progress which hopefully fixes all the bugs and reasons for crashes. xy fx have caused crashes for me and sometimes just leaving the machine alone for 20min after doing sound check for a gig, come back to play and its frozen and needs a restart, never had these probs with my 2500. on the plus side restart and loading time is quick and havent lost anything major, just save regularly. but the machine is far from perfect or even finished. akai support have been no help and i dont think theres anything they could do anyway, just accept the job of beta tester like the rest of us and hope for some updates that arent recalled the day after

I think it was 2 or 3 weeks ago, there was a cat who needed to perform live and his Live was freezing too.

I suggested to to reformat his SSD on a PC to FAT32 or EXFAT and his Live stop freezing ever since and he was able to perform without a hiccup.

Which leads to me to ask you if you formatted any SD card or SSD in the PC first before installing into the Live? Thats if any are installed...

That's by design apparently. A better way to insert sequences in song mode is to press REC and then hit the pads that correspond to the sequences you wish to insert. This works as you'd expect. See tip 2 here for more info:

My ssd was formatted to fat32 on pc prior to installing it on the live. i had the live freeze before i even put an ssd in it. doesnt happen often but had a few times its done a freeze or restart. ive had it freeze when trying to open projects made on the 2500, a couple of folders it wont even open before it crashes, they open fine on my 2500 (akai os) if thats any clue
