I'm putting together a clip project in mpc live. All loops 166 mb + 5,04 mb with the other files generated. Total: only 171 mb.

They are acapellas and percussion loops and drums. Most mono, discard unused parts, purge samples ... And all the other akai tips for optimization.

However, I noticed that when inserting fx's and assigning the inserts to the pad's on the q-link the memory indicator turned red and shows the low memory warning.

I saw an article in the mpc-tutor that read "Effects, programs, sequences and warping appear to have very little relative impact on system memory."

I installed version 2.2.2.1 and I have a 120gb hd installed. There is no justification for such a problem.

Unfortunate for such a small project. Akai needs to sort this out. I paid for live mpc not to use a computer :Sigh:

There does seem to be situations where people are getting erroneous low memory warnings, it might just be a bug that is triggered under very specific conditions. Certainly in my idealistic testing, effects and warping made virtually no difference to memory usage - but even if they did, they should not account for the approx 1GB of additional memory usage you are seeing. It's also worth noting that with each new firmware, it is likely that there will be less memory available, and potentially new memory related bugs.

Ultimately you'd hope Akai and their testing team would be thoroughly testing this kind of stuff. Perhaps 2.2.2.1 fixes memory bugs, however, as Akai no longer see fit to list which specific bugs and issues they have allegedly fixed in the latest firmware release, we have no easy way of knowing.

Your hard drive size has nothing to do with system memory (RAM).

Do you have a lot of expansions installed?

Is 171 MB the size the project folder on the MPC, or is it referring to the size of the original samples?
