SCSI Hard Drive

im interested in getting a SCSI hard drive for my MPC... but the only place i can find them is on Ebay.. :?: whats the deal with these things? i cant seem to find them listed on akaipro.com.. are they manufactured by Akai? if not, is there a website for the company that makes them :?:

If Akai did make them, they'd charge 5 times more than anywhere else (like their MPC4000 memory chips). You can get SCSI hard drives in specialist computer stores, most online computer stores and secondhand on Ebay.

I use a seagate. I think it's a 5 gig. I don't know. I can't remember. But search for you a nice seagate on ebay like I did.

I could really use one of those way better than a zip disk... Any problems with file corruption on these? How much do they run?

mine runs good, after i format it with my akai. When I tried to format it with my computer it made partitions from a-z I don't know why. I just use it with the MPC nothing else and it's good.

ok.. dumb question time:
so, it can be any 4 or 5 MB SCSI hard drive? and all that needs to be done to it is format it with the MPC?

I believe it can be up to 26GB (not MB) with OS 1.14.

oops.. i did type MB, didnt i... my bad
well thats cool to hear.. i read somewhere on here that the absolute Maximum was 6GB..
how can i check to see what OS i have running?

Can you daisy chain from the internal HD of a Triton Studio so that I can use the TS HD for the MPC as well?

No, they do not share the same format.
