have you guys been keeping up with the MPC4000 forum? almost everyone has some kind of complaint about their 4000 and all they seem to talk about is how akai's "goin' down". the 4000 always just seemed a little too decadant to me from the beginning anyway.. but i personally like hardware.. i like physically having a box that i can work on.. theres just a feel to the MPCs.. most likely its the pads.. but also its that sequencer.. it's like the atomic clock. but there are a lot of people who find MPCs outdated.. i was describing my setup to a friend of mine over AIM just this evening, and he even reliped to me that i'm "so outdated" but i disagree.. because my MPC2000XL works, and i know how it works.. and it really is the brain center of my setup.. then we keep hearing that akais days are numbered.. and i dont know what to think about that.. but do any of you find it odd that Roland is about to release its own MPC-like sequencer? i would Hate to think that roland bought the MPC design from akai, thus signaling akais inevitable demise... i'm talking about the Roland MV-8000 and in light of my disturbing theory, it actually looks pretty cool.. we'll see what happens when it hits the showroom...

. I really think Roland likes offering folks an alternative to software; they are shedding light on a situation that Akai and others are turning the lights down on. Well that's just my opinion.
