The DBX 160X works well on drums, they are easy to mod, and I bought two as stereo channels for under $320.

In my opinion it’s a must-have if you own a Numark MPC.

but he has the better version with delays on .I paid 2 quid for mine :smoker:

Looks really damn good somehow. Hard to get inspired by a mixer's look, but that's something that'd get me hyped to sample sh*t etc.

The differences will be night and day.

1. Your audio captures will be more consistent.
2. Dynamics will vastly improve
3. Show you the weak links of your audio chain
4. Lower the noise floor
5. Will improve the clarity
6. Show you the sweet spot of your gear
7. You'll find yourself not having to work so hard to get a great signal

In the digital world, unity gain is Very important, because we can't push past 0db. We can't overdrive digital gear like we do analogue gear and get that natural sounding compression. Digital is not forgiving. This is one of the reason, lots of music now lacks dynamics. People think loud is good and many mastering engineers wav files look like this.

Not sure I’ll get it this year but the Drawmer 1973 looks so dope, I found a dope stereo eq to go with it too. Spent too much already this year to think about more.

I started my journey with plugins and eventually I’ll get the soft tube weiss ds-1 mk3 plugin. Just using it for the trial period and I’m impressed. Just pricey.

A friend of mine got this dj isolator from alpha recording systems and that mfer is dope extremely expensive but from what I heard worth every penny.

Thoughts I throw some random 2 cents at you.

I like the Drawmer 1973 the Low and High end crossover feature is great. It's also dead simple to dial it. Plus it's a steal at 1400!

Most contemporary music looks like that when you zoom it out.
There's also a difference between smashed loud and punchy & clean loud.
All comes down to the engineer. How loud we want to go, that's often up to the client.

Most commercially released material is way over compressed. The meters don't move. I get it for Punk and Death metal, because they strive for that extreme crunch. But most music done this way just sound smashed. It's like some of these mastering engineers forgot about ear fatigue and dynamics.

There's a ton of worthless engineers there, and also a lot of clients who are impressed by loudness. A good engineer is one who's able to do loud AND punchy. Gotta balance the mix properly using several tools and techniques before limiting to get there.

Many of my clients want it loud, and I make sure that it has that punch at the same time.
If their mix sucks (and if I'm just mastering and not handling the mix, too) and it can't go loud, I'll say we can't go that loud…don't want to put out smashed and loud stuff.

It takes years and years of studying the craft to make it good.

I like this joint right here. I might have to get this, matter fact add this to my list. I've heard this in action by Brauer. And it looks sexy as crap!

Im trying to figure out what hardware can do what this does.
