Dan actually seems to comment on things on GS that are actually supposedly coming.

Yes but it would be better if we could get the unofficial vibe over here. We all know that Dan, Pete, Andy and even their CEO are watching this forum. All news that they post on GS and twitter will get here eventually but I feel like it's their policy to avoid posting on this forum.

I don't think it's just this forum, it's anywhere were they don't have control over the conversation. It's not an uncommon approach of course, many businesses do this, while others actively encourage 2 way public engagement.

But, for me, I have not even signed in on the official forum. And this is a complement to you (..and your team?) as this forum here is structured, where there at http://community.akaipro.com it is a huge box of emails to all kind of machines and issues - looks very much 90th style - or maybe worse.

I have a great team of moderators who help keep the site clean plus they completely manage the battle forum. I spend most of my time here dealing with spammers these days!

It's worth using the Akai forum though as it does give you an official channel to log problems and they do have one of the customer support guys eventually answer, although it's normally a 'Thanks, we've passed that on to the developers' type of response. I reported the 16 bit bug there in order to get it some more publicity as I'd reported it a year ago and it still wasn't fixed (16 bit bug: chopping, patch phrase, flatten pad and bounce to sample all produce 16 bit samples, never 24 bit).

Eventually I put it up on gearslutz and Dan has confirmed that it should be fixed in 2.3.

Not even that these days, they give you instructions how to forward your feedback via MPC Software button usually.

To be fair, getsatisfaction isn’t really a forum in the traditional sense. It’s a customer service portal. Sure people post stuff over there like a forum but if you notice it’s designed for feature requests and bug reports. That’s how most companies use GetSatisfaction. Not for deep discussions or two way interactions with hardcore fans.

To be honest, we’re lucky we even have Dan posting over at GS and Reddit occasionally. Most companies I know won’t let employees post anywhere and talk about products. I know in my industry it is super rare for anyone to say anything outside of official forums.

Since 2.3 is suppose to be coming I can just wait patiently. I have all the tools I need to make music and do all the tricks I want. If I don't understand something, I just use Tutor's Book and my other great sources. No time to worry about Dan, Pete, Redditt or Andy or the developers. It is what it is.

I agree. Let those guys do their job. The less people breathing down their neck, the faster things can roll out. Plus as a musician, shouldn't all our focus and energy be in creating music and working on projects.

I agree with both of you but you don't want to spend time working around stuff that are obvious bugs. We've provided them with feedback but no one knows if they are on their priority list and if they will ever be fixed.

I assume some things requested, may not be possible to due to hardware limitations. Somethings will work for the MPC Live and X, but it's not compatible with MPC Ren, Touch, Element, Studio and Studio Black. Software is strange like that, correct one bug and it causes twenty more. Fix those twenty and ten more pop up.

Personally, it would be easier if they just made one, rock solid flagship machine and put all their support into just that one. Trying to make it work across 7 different machines and 2 OS's that all have different setups, is very difficult to pull off. Not to mention, having 1000+ people all requesting 1000+ different things.

True. It's been 6+ years without plugin delay compensation, so best not to hold your breath regarding anything Akai-wise.

With a price of MPC X? They promised us things, they delivered some. Just bought MPC Software 2.0, waiting for fixes and more features. And it's not like they have 7 different machines right now - they just opened themselves for a lot more with decision to sell MPC Software to everyone, without hardware. So they choose their path so now it's time to deliver again.

If someone is happy with what he got right now - good for him, but some of us are still waiting for crucial upgrades.

Did you buy the machine for what was promised or for what it currently can do? I always suggest never buy based on promises, it always ends with disappointment. At this point all anyone can do is wait or move on.
