I don't need anymore reverbs l have from convolution to algorithmic reverbs. RV7000Mkll , Fabfilter Pro R, 2 Tone, Waves Abbey Road plate and Chamber and the list goes on.

So lm good. I just heard it didn't like it. Its all good.

Anyone have any thoughts about:

Universal audio la610 >warm audio pultec clone > universal audio 1176 ? Maybe put a mutator on the end to track it back in stereo? Mutator can be used with mono in stereo out.

Would I be wasting my time with just one channel? Way too expensive to get a matching pair of the setup anytime soon.

Mainly for processing drums.

Why are you passing your audio through two stages of compression with LA 610 AND UA1176? Are tracking live drums or recording pre processed drums. (Sample Sets/Record Samples.)

I found on drums the LA 610 do not have lots of head room, so you can't hit it hard. (Distortions City) Which means that chances of having to use a UA1176 limiter is much lower. No need to smash the dynamics.

Mono drums are perfect, there really is no benefit. Unless your are tracking live drums and you have stereo overhead mics. Or you're looking for some kind of room effect or panning effect.

It was just a thought really. Pretty sure the 610 ‘s compressor can be by passed and was thinking I could use tha system for more than drums. Maybe vocals or running my synths through it. It was more of an afterthought When looking for eq’s

I’d be processing mainly sampled drums from breaks and 808/606 style drum samples.

Right now I’m using stock eq plugins straight into the 1176 and back. I have an analog heat I could use to some extent for eqing but there’s only a high and low knob. Plus as you mentioned the analog heat might not have the headroom and is basically a distortion box so that might not be the best idea. I haven’t tried it yet for that so I don’t really know.

Plugins are cool and all but there not a single one that can color a sound when by passed. The 1176 is really a cool piece and even having it by passed things just sound better through it. Maybe I’m wrong and just not experienced with stuff enough to know but that’s why I’m here bouncing my ideas off y’all.

Did not know you had an Analog heat, that is is a cool piece. Run the Samples though the heat and the UA 1176 and you can get some interesting results. Are you tracking back to the MPC LIVE or Computer?

I’d be tracking back into the soundcard. I have my rack units attached to it.

The live really wasn’t that bad tracking into either but my sound card is easy to route things.

Up until a few months ago I was running everything into a small mackie board into the analog heat back into the live. Really liked that workflow but it’s a lot easier to mix the stuff in a daw to get a more balanced sound.

Congrats salt. I hear focusrite makes some solid stuff.

Thanks diesel! i hope i made the right decision. i hope i picked the better of the 2 in that price range personus was the other option. Amazon needs to heft! This week is going to go by super slow. I'm opening a new door to the world of mixing and i hopefully get my levels right on my beats. It's usually a hit or miss if it sounds decent and getting everything to sound the way i imagined it to sound like. 90% of the time its a miss... Thats about to change!!

Same exact boat salt. It’s a rabbit hole too, especially going it alone or with the help forums like these can offer. Which as nice as the help can be its ultimately on us to master this stuff ourselves.

Case and point: Danoc was going on about stereo panners, I was just reading about quad processing and it really has no relevance as 99 percent of people even have quad systems to play stuff on.

Salt that soundcard looks solid to me. Plenty of in and out options. Not sure what your exact setup( or ideal setup) looks like but a sound card, computer and MPC leaves the options limitless. Almost overwhelmingly limitless lol.

That’s when i up’d my money stack or i should say downed and bought my 2500 brand new i had no idea the type of money i would have to drop to get exactly what i would end up needing for what i was wanting to do. i wished i signed up to this forum the day it came in the mail. SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE AND SMART people on here with the same interests cool enough to take time and help. That’s why i try to help who ever if i know the answers to their question. outside of RTFM. lol that shit is so funny. i never knew what it meant until this forum. i’m going to check out that link. Thanks! i’m on this forum more than soundcloud and snapchat. lol

Salt I don’t see the signature on my phone but after looking at that my two cents after being in a similar situation.

Ableton lite won’t let you use all the in and outs unless you upgrade. I bit the bullet and just bought the full version but you may want to check out other daws before making that jump. Not sure how it works now but there’s a daw reaper that was free and worked pretty good from what I remember.

I haven’t took the jump yet but I’ve been considering getting a patch bay for my setup. That way I can route any thing anywhere. They’re not very expensive either.

Just food for thought really. I literally went through the whole better sound card daw issue. It was kick in the pants finding out I had to drop more money just to use it. I but the bullet but I wish I would have looked at other daws. A lot of people are saying good things about studio one but for me ableton is fine. I just use it for sound design and mixing my tracks. Still learning a lot on it too.

i swear i’ve used more than at least 8 or more audio tracks on ableton live lite 9 i could be wrong. i guess it comes with protools don’t know a damn thing about protools but if that’s what i have to learn to use all the outputs the. it looks like i’m gonna have to learn protools. i really like ableton though. man that sucks if i can use all 8.
