Hello, new user here.
Just purchased the MPC Live and loving it so far; especially the standalone aspect.

Had a question regarding file management, specifically when saving programs/kits.
Basically my folder/file structure on my SSD is as follows:
Kits > Kit Folder (Name) > 16 or so .wav files (sounds/samples)

I open a specific Kit Folder and load the 16 sounds.
Then I map the 16 sounds/samples on the 16 pads of a new program
Then I click the pencil icon of the program, and go to Save Program on the bottom.
I choose the Kit Folder and save it; which MPC Live saves a .xpm file.

What exactly does this file contain? Does it contain links to the specific sounds? Does it recreate each sound/sample?
If I wanted a better file management, and on computer-mode, create a new folder called Finished Kits on my SSD, then move ALL .xpm files that MPC Live created onto this folder, will it still load properly?

Sorry for the long message. As much as I love the MPC Live so far, I'm a little OCD when it comes to where my sounds, kits, etc are located.

XPM file is a data/text file that tells the pad assignments, pitch, sample, effects and things like that.

Thanks.

Since it's just a text file, does it have to be in the same folder as the sounds/samples?

Basically I want to restructure my ssd so that i have a folder for all my sounds/samples (wav) and another folder that has all my kits programs (xpm files).

Yes the XPM file has to be in the same folder. For each beat, I save each one in it's own project file. I then load it into the software and save it as a Project Archive, into it's own folder along with the wav stems.
