Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

I've always wanted a Live but can't justify it because my Studio Black with a laptop is way more powerful and has every piece of software I own in it. I feel like I'd end up using the full software with the Live anyway. Live lacks dedicated buttons... Studio is super portable and even on top of a laptop in a backpack is about the same thickness of Live. I can't think of a time I'd go somewhere with the Live and not want/need my laptop as well. I still want one... but it's just too unnecessary. I also have a Ren and an XL. I use the XL the most because it just sounds do much better but the XL is still new to me. Oh and I put a CF reader in it. I use the software for sampling though. I kind of hope Akai makes an MPC like the Maschine Mk2 but standalone. Also I would've liked the X but that screen is too big IMO. I'd rather it be non touch screen and a little smaller. I think touchscreens are overrated. Buttons FTW. Just my 2 cents.

More powerful, maybe. But optimized? What about the 250 tiny processes that are running in the background?

I’d be interested to go toe to toe, Live vs. a more powerful laptop. track for track; effect for effect, etc. to see which one crashes or exhibits performance issues first. Because the Live has suffered everything I’ve thrown at it, with nary a hiccup. Effects in multiple pads, audio tracks, time stretching, etc.

Premier have been doing that with the MPC60 and s950. Doesn't mean they're good hardware Compared to todays market.

Bang for the buck is not the MPC Live, but that doesn't mean you can't make better music on it then with better equipment

Live is a solid machine, I don’t find as portable as I would like. I have to carry a big padded bag to keep it safe. So I makes it kind of awkward to carry in some situations.

I just ended up buying another surface pro. I just take that with me with a silver mpc studio. I can carry that in a basic padded Jan sport.

Most people do not know how to optimize their computer settings and select the proper components. Nevertheless, I'm not sure what kind of laptop or desktop computer you're using, but my current computer build would run circles around any MPC.

I enjoy the MPC's for what they do, but in today's computer age, they are Grossly under-powered.

Would be nice to upgrade the internals of the MPC X and Live. I've been saying this for a long time, that there is no way a XBOX one or PS4 pro should be more powerful than the MPC X. All a smart developer needs to do is create a SOFTWARE DAW for the PS4.

XBOX One / PS4
USB KEYBOARD/PAD controller
XBOX One / PS4 SOFTWARE DAW.

All they have to do route the audio out of the Ethernet cable, HDMI out or Digital Outs. I don't know why Ableton or NI have to done it yet?

I wanted a replacement for my 4k and was REALLY hoping an X was it, it's not.
