When painters sit back and discuss bristle quality, source and count, I KNOW they’ll be turning out some Bob Ross-style shit. Capable, but generic. Then again, Paul Klee would paint on anything he could find... cardboard, old binder covers, envelopes, etc.

Something to consider.

If you're very particular about your sound and are interested in nuances, nothing wrong with that, and that definitely does not rule out being good with musical content.

Or maybe I'm just speaking for myself? Always been interested in musical/sound nuances.
These days I make my living as a mixing + mastering engineer and still make internationally recognized music. Nerdism is amazing.

You have EA Ski making beats on different MPCs etc and often commenting on how different they sound. Etc.

Time to drop the d*** measuring. Let’s GO. Rhythm Roulette style. For the sake of complete access, let’s search for “vinyl rip” on YT, and take the first 3 (sorted by upload date) and create a beat. I’ll use the Live. Y’all can use whatever suits you, but you’ll have 24 hours to upload the results for review.

Let’s stretch our legs, not our jaws.

Let me know who’s in.

Here’s the latest 3 I’ve found on YouTube.

I actually agree that each machine has a different sound.

What does a Beat Roulette prove? That a person can take random records and make a beat from it. That's not really that hard to do, in fact that whats most beginner do, because they don't know what records to select.

Not to mention, I've never digged Christie, they always sounded like a horrible copy of Credence Clear-water Revival. However they never had the depth, vocal tone, song writing, and arrangement. :-D

An artless assessment.

My hypothesis is that I’ll make a more delicious track than you. Not a complex idea.

To say “they don’t know what records to select” is obtuse, on its face. The challenge is to use the MPC (this is the MPC forum, is it not?) and identical sources to show what you can make with the what you’re given.

Anyway. I get it. You’re out.

Music is not about better, it's about conveying an emotion, feel, spirit, a connection with the listener. Once you understand that, you don't need to prove your worth, in a pseudo chopping head contest. You want to impress me combine the Dorian, Aeolian and Locrian modes together, that express your personal sentiment of love and the internal struggle of our own mortally.

Until you're able to express things like that, you're just making beats.

Luddite snob. I’m not impressed.

That’s like saying Joseph Cornell isn’t as great as Albrecht Dürer. But it’s Wrong.

Neil Young can evoke more atmosphere by bending a 3-note solo than a room full of Steve Vais.

But that’s the difference between art and craft.

And you can spin it till you’re blue in the face, but the music does the talking. I played drums for 25 years before I realized that sampling Is a far more aurally gratifying style of sonic composition than the constraints of standard instrumentation.

Cornell and Durer have two different styles from two different time periods. Also they aren't challenging each other to paint off. Nevertheless, I'm glad that your musicianship has brought you to sampling. I wish you the best and hope you find your audience, so you can share your musical experience with them.

Care to share your filter, eq setting for your drums? It's always nice to get a drummer perspective of sound creation in the world of drums machines.

“Wack mother******s always get in my hair -
But when I turn around to battle ‘em,
There’s nobody there!

I peep the dust cloud -
Observe the hasty retreat;
Makin’ bee-lines for the exit -
Cause they can’t take the heat!”

Dam I leave and the jump off happened LOL What the hell happened in here? Are dudes arguing if all MPCs sound different or the same?

It's like saying and SSL board, all the channel strips sound the same from the same board AND THEY DON'T! I don't see how all the MPCs sound the same, if so can some one explain to me and show me a shoot out? Or if one can here the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit.

Now are peeps arguing if they can tell this by ear? hmmm :hmmm: For instance the MPC 3000 does not sound like the MPC2000xl and I love both machines. the 3000 is punchier and warmer. Both those Machines don't sound like the MPC60 or 60II.

Dam Charles Aeolian and Dorain etc mixed when playing? Whew man that's hard LOL
That's some Liberace sh**  Or Elton John.
Don't wanna get in a beef over this, I am more concern about the functions, cause we have software now to make the certain sounds our soul acquire.
