WTF! Akai 4000Ds in the dumpster? Dudes are smokin that stuff

Cockdiesel wrote:Just found an akai 4000ds in a dumpster, it works but needs some cleaning up.

Another guy I talked to is going to sell me his rackmount gear for 100 bucks. Compressors, crossovers, tc electronic signal processor, and speaker management system.

Thanks hurricane Florence

Oh yeah forgot to tell you about that. Behringer X touch one is killing the Faderport v2.

I almost bought into the Faderport 8. Glad l was patient, if l would of bought that then seen thw XT1 l would of been pisssssssssed!

Go to ebay and buy it. Use the seller that has "make an offer" and put in $135 see if they wiil take it. Also free shippin. I ordered mine Monday and l got it Wednesday l was

Or yoy can get 3 or 4 easy payments from Sweetwater or Zzounds.

Def getting this over the Faderport.

Oh wow. I hope everything went well on your end bro. Stay safe.

After looking into some things what I was looking for was a multi channel transient designer.

Still have yet to find a midi controlled one but it’s a step in the right direction.

It would be cheaper for me to buy another animal if heat than a dedicated transient designer.

However the analog heat isnt a true transient designer...

I know no one cares but I really like the thought of processing drums this way.

That's one of the reason l love the SSL bpard that does transient shaping. Dope!

Great thread!

I just recently (haven't opened it yet) graduated to the Live from the Touch. 90% of my sounds now come from VSTs. I'm 8 or so months into going as virtual as possible from several synths, romplers, drum machines, preamps, etc. I have a synth or 2... or 3 that may be hard to let go. And I will always need keys, pads & sequencer. Any way...

Good to see some of the creative plugins I've been looking into getting good reviews here. My current collection is made up of what came with other products; Native Instruments, Logic Pro X & Focusrite Clarett. I like bundles, consistency with interfaces and a few other things that have me wanting as much from one company as possible. I'm looking at Soundtoys & Waves.

If I do hang onto my synths (Minitaur, SE-1X & Perfourmer MK2), I'll need some DIs to run them through. The Clarett 4pre only has 2 instrument level inputs. I saw some Radial love. What do folks think of the JD6 for this purpose?

Check out Spiff by Oeksound…dope transient plugin for sure.
EDIT: Oops, so you're looking for a hardware unit…sorry!

I think it might be the only reasonable solution for me and what I want to do. I want to be able to sequence filters/vca per step and also trigger differnt envelopes but in hardware...

I’m sure there is a perfect solution for software, hardware it’s either modular, multiple analog heats, or transient designer. Although the transient designer isn’t exactly what I’m looking for because I have yet to see one with midi inputs.

Tried modular but I could never get it to sound clean. Really hated modular to be honest to much for my obsessive brain to deal with and wasn’t getting any good results in terms of clean signals.

Thanks for the suggestion tho.

Dual Analog Heat MKII may be the way to go. Best feature and quality for the price. It's in an unique position.

I don’t think I can run differnt filters on the two channels...

I want to process the drums with a low pass, 2 band pass and 1 high pass triggering differnt envelopes per step.

I would need 4 analog heats to process 4 mono tracks and be stuck with the filter on the machine. I was looking for some variety. Analog heat is cool and all but there are way better sounding filters out there.

I honestly think this is only something that can be achieved with modular and plugins as the moment. Multi channel transient shape would get me on the ball park but that’s way too much knob turning and nothing would be consistent.

Analogue Heat have stereo ins and stereo out. Can't you route them in hard right and hard left and out hard right and hard left? If not it would seem, that your work flow requires a Software Daw and Plug ins. To do this in hard ware, you're going to have to, up the budget.

I could pan hard left and right but the unit only runs one stereo filter at a time I could get crazy with the midi and change filters crazy style but that doesn’t seem like itlwork our well.

Sherman filterbank makes quad processor but I don’t need the death metal distortion/ Roland filter that’s been smoking crack sound.

Modular it looks like midi to cv module, 4 envelope generators, filter array, 4 vca’s not including modules to get the sound in and out....

Doefner makes a system in the 2-3000 range which would include oscillators and I could upgrade the filters as I see fit. It’s ideal, I can find modules for like the filters in the mutator or even the Dave smith Curtis filter sounded real nice. A big step up from the analog heat low pass.

A lot of money and wasted energy/thought on just a way to spice up my the rhythms. Lol
I suppose I should get back to setting up system again been 3 weeks almost since the storm...

I hate my brain sometimes.

Only 4 grand homie...

For real and you’d be stuck with whatever filters the machine has. I might hate the low pass but love the band pass...

Sherman restyler sounds more refined but stereo and more expensive than the analog heat.

Upon a quick ocd search it looks like 3k no matter what is the damage.

2 iodine core would get the job done as well. But once again stuck with the same filters...

I have a mutator I love but I might not be able to shape the envelope as much as I want but it’s the best low pass I’ve ever heard.

So interms of rack gear it like a mutator (I can learn to deal with its envelopes if just processing my bass drum)

2 iotoine cores (if I even like the sound of the filters) I’d have to try them

1 Sherman filterbank (once again IF I like the sound of the filter) I would have to test to filterbank and iotine core and see if I like them for band bass or high pass filters.

Only 4 grand not including a dedicated mixer and the 900 I spent on a mutator...

My nerd rant about this is over but somewhere down the line someone might be put on some serious game with this one.

It all depends if you want to pay for that last 5% because VST Effects will get you 95% there. You could even process the drums using the filter effects in the MPC LIVE/X.
