MPC/ MPC Forum veterans, what are your X/ Live verdicts?

They did a good job with the controller, however it's a must to have the producer software. So many things are disabled.

Dudes had what they thought was latency because their samples are not cut on the one. There is space between the live start and the sample real hit.

See this is why I take what I hear in forums with a grain of salt. A lot of good info, but a lot of people that don't know what they're talking about. Not trimming samples & blaming it on latency?!!?!? my word

Thanks for the comment Danoc. Even tho I would mainly use it in standalone I would def use it with the software as well, I've been working out a hybrid approach (hardware & software) & I think the Live would of course be great for this. I adore the MPC workflow & the other features I've learned from you about the Live blew my mind. I'm getting excited

A little concerned with using the touchscreen, but I've heard from a lot of people that felt the same, they were worried about the touchscreen, yet they ended up liking it a lot.

I do suggest getting a stand that tilts the screen up. Unless you want smartphone neck. They know darn well, that screen should've been a tilt screen. Picture 5 (60 LBS)

Yes sir! Even the one shots from the Vault are not edited on the one. All my drum sounds are edited correctly so when o bang out thangs be on time. I have absolutely no complaints about my live. I'n at 2.2.1 and l'm staying there.

Alot of guys were setting their lives up wrong. They were not connecting to the computer. Because they were not chosing the correct tab for installation for their machine. I'll Green will vouch for me, he saw me help a large number of people. I wanted them to experience the good of the machine and not blame it on a usb cable when it was their fault.

I use my computer and l optimize my and configured my computer correctly.

When l saw that we had access to the Air instruments and effects l was all over the software. Al for FREE! Hybrid 3, Xpand 2, Loom, Mini Grand etc are some dope pro synths.

Fact! The converters on the Live/X are dope! You record vocals in both machines its really tight and sound great. I was shocked. Anyone say they are not is buggin and a lie!

Another problem guys had dealing with latency was PAD SENSITIVITY! Dudes had that set wrong and thought it was latency smh. Put the pad sensitivity on normal and you're good to go.
In standalone mode you dont have a preference to set a latency mode i.e. 256 or 512 or down to 64. Because it has no latency. That's one of the main reasons l got it.

Here's a vid of me rocking the SW. If the SW is tight can you imagine the standalone? Tighter!

Seems that the 2.2.1 FW is more stable.. I am on the latest FW/SW...

I am a complete novice and just starting out on this beatmaking thing, do you guys reccomend downgrading??

So received my MPC Live yesterday. And for me this is everything I wanted the MPC1000 to be 10 years ago (running on battery power) and the Studio 4 years ago (being able to run standalone with easy computer integration). I'm not a VST guy, vinyl chops are my daily bread and butter, collected a vast library of multisamples over the last couple of years and the onboard FX are more than workable for me. Plus something I can drop in my backpack without taking the laptop with me, and since I've been minimizing and simplifying my setup and workflow to be more creative instead of setting up and looking up things during a session this meets almost all my needs.

I was working on a beat on my MPC2500 with JJOS1 when the Live was delivered, and after setting up and installing everything (including HDD) I dumped the project into the Live to finish the beat in there. After searching for the shortest routes to navigate between menus I'm already just as quick as on the 2500. On both machines most features are just 2 or 3 taps or clicks away. I'm already waaaay faster than on the Studio. Too much dedicated buttons with some of the functions only accessible through or executable in the software only always got me lost between the controller and the computer screen. This is my dedicated beat machine in one box. Writing in there, finishing up in DAW. Couldn't be more happy. Thanks for your input y'all!!!

More powerful, maybe. But optimized? What about the 250 tiny processes that are running in the background?

I’d be interested to go toe to toe, Live vs. a more powerful laptop. track for track; effect for effect, etc. to see which one crashes or exhibits performance issues first. Because the Live has suffered everything I’ve thrown at it, with nary a hiccup. Effects in multiple pads, audio tracks, time stretching, etc.

I had forgotten all about this conversation, but yeah, I bought a Live about a month ago. It's insanely good. I barely touch Ableton or the MPC Software since having it. Had no idea it would be this good. I love being outside the box. I just finished sampling my Tanzbar 2 into it. Just so awesome.
